That's right! It's time to give away some more paint! I bet those of you who missed out last time I forgot to do this again. Well, I was waiting for everything to fall into place so I could manage this fiasco.

Once again, I’m gonna offer up something, albeit small, to those in the HAMB community who are new to pinstriping, even so new that they might even not have all of the wares to practice the art. What I’d like to offer to those few is a FREE 8oz. can of 1Shot paint. I have recieved a small surplus of 1Shot paint from my 'big' brother in Iowa. He has sent this out to me for the sole purpose of giving it away here! So let’s have some fun with it. We have 12 cans that are ready to be given away.

Here's what is gonna happen - the first 12 HAMBers who PM me who are new to striping and don’t already have any 1Shot on hand, I’ll send them ONE can of the color of my choice and some basic beginner instructions to help get them started. Help me keep my PMs organized by using 1Shot in the subject line of your PM message. Include in that PM your STREET address and REAL name.

Last time I had several guys who had striped in the past. That ain't gonna fly this time. I'm only taking honest to God beginners. I'm also not going to send out paint to a non-HAMBer. If you want some paint, you better be a registered member. You don't have to be an Alliance member,(and why aren't you!?) but defiantly a HAMBer. I'm also holding back TWO cans for the ladies! Last time there were no women responding. If I don't get any this time them I'll send out that paint to the next in line. Hey, I'm trying!

However there’s a catch; there always is. I’m gonna post your names after I send your paint and you’re gonna post pix of your work! If you’re serious about learning this great art, this won’t be an issue. If you’re not serious, then don’t PM me asking for paint. I want to see new artists start striping, not old ******** artists with new lines. The way I see it, with this gesture of mine and Lil John, there will be about another ten or twelve new pinstripers in the world in the next couple years. And that’s a good thing.

And since I'm talking about this 'catch', I'm going to call out to those who recieved paint last time and HAVEN'T posted work. What gives? You've had four months to get the hang of it. Post something so I know I'm doing something worth while!!!!

Hell, I’ll even cover the shipping to the lower 48. But you gotta be patient. Sending out 12 boxes that are two pounds a peice to all parts of this great nation ain't cheap.

Me just giving this stuff away will not make those who receive it a great striper. Hell, let's be honest here; it won't make you a fair to good striper. However, if you follow the advice that I send and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, you stand a chance of at least being proud of your own work.

Another thing that I will suggest. Find someone close to you who you can watch and learn from. Spending time with a vet is priceless. But spending that time with them without knowing what they are talking about is pointless. Learn the art, practice the art, live the art and keep the art alive!

One last thing. Read this thread COMPLETELY! I'll post a message when I get the first twelve. After that, please don't PM giving me a sob story about not seeing this post until it was too late. Don't try to guilt me into giving you something. I hate that and won't do it. I'm not trying to be a hard-***, but come on.

You guys are killing me! Of the first three PMs I got, only ONE sent me and address. Needless to say, he's number one on the list.

Come on guys, pay attention and follow some VERY EASY instructions. The way I see it, if you can't follow the above instructions, do you think you can comprehend striping instructions?

Again, I'm not trying to be a hard-***, but...

Vance, hope you got my PM. Shes not a HAMBer (only cause I don't like kids on computers in todays sick world), but my 15 year old DAUGHTER bought her first project a 33 Ford truck and has been pestering me all summer to get her into striping. I bought her vids and books, and this would be a great start. You send the paint, I'll buy her brushes. Anyway, cool of you to offer this even if she isn't a**** the 12.

I sent you her myspace page so you can see shes a car guy at heart, just young, and her daddy is a big ole computer boogie. And for those that say "thought she doesn't computer, but shes on Myspace", you can ask hotrodbrad,,,, it took months for her pestering me on that, and even then, I watch over her shoulder.

Wow! Less than 2 hours and those twelve cans are spoken for. Sorry about the delay folks. I had every intention and staying up to babysit my PM box to stay on top of this but a drunk interveened.

We had a power pole jumped out in front of some loser drunk driving his S10 through our platt, sacrficing itself to save countless dozens. Just after midnight the power went out and after an hour in the dark, I said screw it and went to bed.

I woke up to 18 PMs to deal with. When I went to bed, the first half of the cans were spoken for so you can imagine the other half didn't last long.

Just so everyone is clear - ALL CANS ARE NOW SPOKEN FOR. Thanks for playing along. Watch you're mailboxes. I use USPS for this stuff. Those boxes will go out early next week.

And remember, by responding you all said you are now contractually bound to post some work. Ok, that prolly won't hold up in court, but it sounded good.

Thanks Vance! My daughter is pretty excited about getting a chance to get started with this stuff. Chaddilac says he'll donate a brush and a lesson or two to the cause, so this'll work out pretty nicely.

She posted on the NEWBIE board, so feel free to drop over and say hello to Miss Behavin. She's my daughter, so be nice to her!

    Thanks again!

I got a can from Vance the first time around. Thanks so much Vance. I had a stripng brush for years but never got any paint. Once I got the can from Vance I had no choice but to start striping. For those who do not know me I do Hot Rod theme artwork and have enjoyed now adding striping to some of my artwork.

I'll be posting up my latest stripe job in this weeks Friday art show so you can see how far I have come with it. Happy striping to all those new to it. I'm hooked.

  20. ******, and I was on early this morning.
I'll have to take to drinking coffee before logging in.
    Cool offer.

  21. Cool idea Vance. Very generous of you. I thought it would be a good idea to do something like this limited to the kids at one of the car shows.
I had taken a cl*** at Eastwood Co. in Pa. and bought some supplys, but I haven't taken the time to practice as I should. As you said, it takes PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.

Now a days people being generous need to be careful. As litigous as the world has become... Some of these paints still have enough lead in them for a hard core sleezy lawyer to have a field day. Giving out paint like this to youngsters could open up a can of worms the size of Nevada.

I don't know about you, but I don't want any part of that. I used to stripe at 25-30 outdoor carshows a year and that kinda thing was always in the back of my mind. I'd have the occasional kid/teen ask for lessons/tips or something of the like. I wouldn't do anything without talking to Mom and Dad. Made me look really good (concerned) and made them aware of the fact that I knew more then them. I really tried to steer clear of minors to teach, unless they were real close friend's kids or relatives.

Sorry to carry one like an overly nervous twit, but I just like to be safe in this regard.

  23. Good point. I too am cautious nowadays. I beleave 1-Shot has taken the lead out of their paints, but that doesn't mean the ***ociated materials aren't hazardous (mineral spirits, reducers, retarders, etc.). Thanks, Vance

I tell you what, the same week that I set up this offer, my work load fell flat on it's face, thus causing a cashflow issue. Then when work picked up for a short time, I blew all my spare cash and then some in Louisville. It's tough to walk past 'show specials'. It looks like I'll be able to send the paint out as early as this next week, prolly Monday or Tuesday.

I appoligize for the delay. I know how it feels to be expecting something that you've wanted for a long time and not getting it as quick as you'd like.

I have all twelve boxes packed and ready to go, so bear with me.

    Thanks for your patience.
