I thought the movie" World's fastest Indian" ' was great. I just finished reading (in 2 sittings . Couldn't put it down) the book on which it was based, "One Good Run". The author is Tim Hanna, and I got a new copy on epay for 8 bucks. The endurance and perseverance that was Burt Munro is a testimony to the human spirit. Hot-rodders also possess this spirit, in varying degrees. As I read the book I fondly remembered my late father-in-law, Walter Kummer, who often did things in the same "unconventional" way as Burt. May these old-timers rest in peace......

I have only seen the movie and loved it. However, after your recommendation, I may need to read the book.

You should be able to rent World's Fastest Indian on DVD... one of the bonus features it comes with is documentary footage of the real Burt Munro!

    Well worth seeing...

Yeah, I bought the DVD for about 12 bucks or so on epay, too. Make sure you order the copy w/the documentary and making of the movie on it. Great investment in entertainment...Ole Pork

I really recommend buying the DVD, mine also came with the documentary done in the late '60s on Burt, lots of original footage of him, his Scout, and even some interviews with him. In my opinion, that was the best part of the DVD, that guy's an inspiration......

I just hopped back on this site after a long absence and I love that I stumbled upon this message. (I'm a librarian, books are kind of my life.) It's on my reading list for this month - thanks!
