Hello all, I'm start'n to do some massive re-constructive surgery on my 27 T Roadster body. The wheel wells were cut out ages ago. Along with the rear sub-frame cross member. So... I need good reference pictures of the wheel well-areas from inside the trunk space and outside. Sub frame pictures around the rear portion of the body would help as well. Also, if any of you have a 27 T Roadster sitting on A rails I would love to see pictures of how you mounted the body to the frame. Listen, I'm new to building hot-rods and I'm a visual learner. I want to do all the work myself. So, any help would greatly be appreciated. If you're local (SF Bay Area) I'll buy the beer and we can swap pictures and info. This link will give you guys an idea of what I'm work'n with. http://www.bayareabroncos.com/jalopy.html Thanks in advance! Jared
actually the 27 roadster has a few holes that line up already but i think they were in the back .... which doesnt help too much use the stock mounting tabs in the front( in the middle of the cowl) just weld some tabs on the inside of the frame sorry no pics tk
Subrails for the roadsters were different than the coupes/sedans...they were completely straight rather than having the 2 angles in front and just behind the doors. They did have the "bump" in them that kinda backed up the inner wheelwell panel. I don't think that it is all that necessary, and if you have any kickup in the rear of the frame, your axle may dictate removal of a section there anyway. If you have the area below the doors you are in good shape...that area and up to the cowl even better. Just make a rear section out of a comparable gauge and dimension rectangular tubing. If your rails are kinda shitty make them from the front to the back, just do some measuring and thinking of a way to copy the door area. You'll be much happier than fighting rot or piecing shit together. Jig everything up either way, it will make attaching the panels much easier/nicer. Weld in the oem cross channels at the same height as they were rivited in the new subrails. Make the rear subframe out of square tubing...Thats pretty much all it looked like originally...a guess would be 1 1/2 x 1 1/2. PM me if you need any more help. Mike
Rad. I've got the sub frame under the doors and cowl. So, I'm good there. I'll definitely take your advice and get some square tubing and make my own rear cross-member. I was mess'n with it a little last night and that did seem to be the best way. I was considering buying the repo-steel "coupe" rear sub-rail cross section and just customing it to work since it's roughly the same length. Thanks for your help and ideas! Rock!
So, no one has pictures of their 27 T roadster they're willing to share? All I'm hoping to achieve with this is to better understand what a complete body looks like from the inside out. You know?
