Get one from a local automotive paint store. They can load them with anything. Then all you need to know is what kind (and maybe brand) of clear is going to be used. I have tried to clear (and even paint) over the readily available ones from the auto parts stores (not the touch up ones the parts marking ones) and it always goes wrong. Guess I'm usin' the wrong stuff.

Atch, you can get a flattening agent to make clear more of a "Matte" type clear coat, or according to my friend that's in school to be a body man shoot it really dry or light coats over time. By the way we need to figure out who will have this at the drags I REALLY want to sign it!

shane t and i are working on it, but it's likely i'll have the dash at the drags.

can someone on here make a banner (about 2'x4' or so) that says something like "PLEASE SIGN THIS DASH FOR HAMBANDY" or "HAMBANDY'S DASH; PLEASE SIGN" or something similar that i can hang on the front of a table and put the dash on the table along with the paint pen/sharpie?

The dash has a ride. Ken(aka SLick50 ) will be transporting it and some paint pens to the HAMB drags. So YOU GUYS GET READY CAUSE HERE SHE COMES.
My buddy Greg Porter has agreed to cut the dash in and paint it flat black. So I should have pics any day now of the dash.

I'd like to pitch in a steel repro 32 grille shell. I've got one with all the original style chrome ready to go. If he doesn't want the chrome, you can fill it, or I can have a filled shell drop shipped.

    Let me know.

OK, here's the deal on the dash:

    1. slick50 is gonna bring the dash to joplin

    2. i'll take it from him and set up a table where folks can come by and sign

    3. deano will be supplying a banner so's everyone will know to sign the dash; i'll hang the banner off the front of the table

    deano, watch your pm's.

Thanks Atch . I'm going to paint supply store and get some blood red paint pens to send with the dash. From what I've heard this would be the best way to sign and then have it cleared.

  14. When a decision is made about what seats are going to be used, I need a PM with some details and contact information so I can coordinate with everyone involved with the interior i.e. color, style, arrangements for shipping, etc. Thanks, I'm looking forward to doing this and seeing Andy get better too.

Leon,Bill(hackerbill) and myself meet last nite to iron out the details of the car.We sat down and walked through each part of the car from front to back and figured out a basic idea of how it will be built.Leon has all the notes so he will fill in the finer points. Our plan is to use the front part of the model A frame and Z it just behind the fire wall and from there back it will be 2x3.We felt to make this build a fast build we need to keep much of it simple and not to get carried away with wild ideas. Front end will be made up of a drop axle with split wishbones sitting on a spring over in the stock model A cross member.Brakes will be F100 up front and steering will be a dodge box.One thing we felt would be good for Andy would for it to be automatic.Leon will fill you in on that, Out back it will house a 9 inch with a 39 spring with a set of custom built lower control arms.We are still up in the air on how to build them. The body will have eather a 4 or 5 inch chop and have a roof from a early 60 Dodge filling the hole.As for seating we felt with the Z frame and channel body a bench seat will not work but the idea of using a Bus seat with a split base came to mind. This is all not cut in stone just that we felt that we need to get a handle on how this build will take shape, you guys need to have some say in this and anything ideas or problems with our ideas please let us know after all it is a hamb build and you have a say it how it will be built. Leon, Bill if I missed anything here jump in and fill in the blanks.

I need a US address to send the boxes to. Wife can't do Canada where she works. I will ship out the schtuff on Monday. Will you still need the arms with the f100 brakes?

  19. If a split bench is needed hows about a rear seat out of a 98 Camaro? The bottoms are split and contoured and the back is solid. I have 1 of these in gray leather. I'm trying to help with the parts me and a buddy have between us. 734-678-6206 Joe

  20. hey fitzee, you mentioned a dodge steering box. if that piece isn't already in the pool I've got a 3cc03 gemmer box out of an effie I'd chuck in. I'll go home and check it's condition right now...

This is what makes the HAMB. my hat is off to all of you guys.

    here's to you Andy!

If you need anything I can help with let me know. I have about a dozen Junk Studebakers of all years and plenty of posi-trac dana 27 & 44 rear axles.

Anything I can donate is free to a good cause. Though I've never been as seriously ill as hambandy, however I spent a few months in a hospital a couple years ago when I was 21 years old and honestly it was looking forward to the un-important car projects of a 54 and 61 Stude that really brightened my spirits.

Contacted Pat to see about getting the car moving, but he is in British Columbia. He is home on Tuesday and gone on Thursday on a super cruise.............so we are experiencing a minor delay. But that gives us more time to get parts and our thoughts together.
