Rd...cost is relative to whether its a roller or a turnkey car........but You furnish the car...the rest is optional...but around 40 as a finished roller..less if you have a few parts..........or can do some yourself..Last one will run a 412 inch wedge, alky on stack Indy injectors, torqueflyte and 4.30s with 10.5wx33x15s on 12 inch wheels......engine has run 9.30s in his other car...a 3200 pound 63 Dodge, "Max Attack".......this car will weigh in at around 2700 with driver........should go in the high 8s with ease. Used a Speedway axle under that one...the other 65 in the shop will use a lightened K member and torsion bars...both are 4 link. M.
My jaw drops evry time I see that red Indian; the Falcon looks like it'd be way more fun than any man should be allowed to have. I want to be that man!
tex, Great - thanks! I could see issue with moving the rears forward, but I could probably do the straight axle conversion...just curious. Right now, I am a dreamer with one toy too many - after I let it go, I'll look to pickup a Nova or Falcon and take it from there.
I believe some of the factory Mopar A/FX cars used the original front suspension, the K-member was moved forward, so it would be period correct.
The car is getting a tubular cross member for sure and all stock front suspension is being removed and shelved. If I went with indepent front, I'd go with McPherson Struts and a non-power Mustang II rack with some old lower control arms off the old Speed Truck I used to crew chief on. All said and done, it would weigh about 40 or so lbs less that a sold axle set-up, which is sadi to weigh 75lbs less then original MoPar. And since I need at least 50% rear weight to get a proper launch, I'm leaning towards the independent set-up, especially with a big block up there.
