I've seen plenty of bad 70's Nomad pictures with Hijackers on the rear, wire wheels and brown-tinted gl***-- No thanks. Did anybody take a brand new Nomad (or Safari) in 1955, 56 or 57 and customize it? Crazy Paint jobs? Which Hubcaps did they run? Post your pics here, please.
I did find a sectioned Nomad from the early 60's on Rik's page, and a sweet period 55 Chevy custom...
...not exactly "real"... but maybe they'll inspire? Phantom Olsmobile Nomads I whipped up a while back for R-n'-C....
My all-time favorite Nomad, owned by Sam Hollingsworth (I know it has wires, but they're not truspokes, they're skylark)
That's THE car I am building myself once I have the chance. Met Sam at the Long Beach swap meet and he told me interesting stories about the car.
Yeah-- They really don't need much body wise, do they? I've got my 57 Pontiac Safari running now, so I'm trying to figure out how far to customize it and keep it tasteful and simple. Here's what I'm starting with:
No, the Russ Meeks Mad Wagon still excits and is currently beeing restored back to its original condition.
In the Custom's of the 60's book their is that sweet '55 chevy. deep purple (maybe black) body with silver and purple seaweed flames and a silver flaked roof with some buick wires i believe. that wagon is PERFECT!!! i know some one with a 55 nomad and if i were to clone a car thats the one i'm after!!!
Yeah- no owner name is given- But belonged to a very young Richard Graves who still builds sweet cars over 40 years later in the same Long Beach neighborhood.
Wow, killer stance. It must have taken a few tries to get that suspension worked out. It's sitting just right.
this one sit in barn here in wellington for 33 years and was finnally sold and is now making a come back!
Yes, it's photo shopped. It's the same pic as my Nomad in my avatar, changed the color and dropped it.
1956 Chevy with a chopped top from a late 50's Custom Cars Annual... And a 1957 Chevy Nomad with chopped top from the same CC Annual...
