this is my barn find, 76 cadillac coupe deville 69,000 , 500ci caddy motor turbo 400, little old lady called me and asked if i wanted it for parts. cause she just wanted it out of the garage been parked 20 years after husband died and she does not drive. got title but no keys, had to jack up the car to get at trans to disconnect the linkage to get into netrual. had to push it our of garage to the rollback, it is in old inner city house and the rollback could not get to it cause th house is kind of in front of the garage, i cant see how the got the caddy in garage running, that caddy is big, but it cost nothing.
the car is pretty solid, all parts and trim are there the interior is great.
now what to do with it????

Yeah, not exactly the "style/life/trad" stuff we want to see here, but maaaaan it's cool. Congrats on the great score. Loosen up that motor with some penetrating oil in the cylinders before trying to turn it over.

If it's a cherry, keep it like it is and cruise in it during the nice months. Put an overdrive trans in it, and that thing would be a baaad aaaaassss summer cruiser and cross country tripper.

    I'd keep it!

Dude, this is not a barn find in the traditional sense...this overwieight POS fright pig should be on a used car lot in places I cannot state here. Keep this shit off of the HAMB! Ebert.

I think what your saying You have a later model drive train for a rod project. I think that ok on hamb. The other post get rid of the body and any parts that can't be used in your project.

Put whats left on Craigslist for bucks or free or some site etc. Some Caddy guy would love have it, as much a a guy junking a solid 49 Merc coupe after he pulled the motor.

Wow, didn't think this post was too far outta line or anything! Honestly, it's worth around $3k or so on Ebay if you could get it running. You can get some keys made, do a tune-up, etc and probably get it going and looking nice for a few hundred bucks. Why not do that, list it on Ebay with no reserve, and use the $$ for your hot rod? That car is too nice and low mile to just strip the motor/tranny and crush it! Even if you don't want to screw with it, you could probably get ~$1500 or so without even touching it.

I agree, this maybe shouldn't have been posted on here as a 'barn find', I got all excited to see what it was, and it opened up to a mafia staff car from the 70's...but you do stand to make a good profit from it since you didn't pay anything for it. There is a market out there for these cars...and this one looks nice. Clean it up and Ebay it. You might be surprised at the $$$ you make from it.

I think you should pull the 500 put it in a light car and blow the doors off of the 2 nay sayers. I haven't heard anyone complaining about putting the car on eBay.

    ems,

:) I think any old car is a good find, Cadillac's are great cars. Get it, drive it, for a while and if you don't like sell on ebay. Cool find.......I think it fits this post as a barn find, it was just in a garage. "I'm a '49 Caddy man"

I'd be willing to bet that the same statement could have been said about the 40 Willys around the time that it was considered "worthless"...except you would have to replace "overweight" with "lightweight".

The car is over 30 years old....imagine if all the 30's and 40's cars had been scrapped back in the 60's and 70's.

At the price, you can't go wrong. These are cool drivers, nothing else quite like them. In good operating condition, you should be able to turn it for a pretty penny. Until you decide what to do, get it roadworthy and enjoy it.
