After 2 years of lay offs, I've finally gone back to work and I can finish some of these projects that I've wanted to do. First on the list is turning my 68 Coupe Deville into a Bellflower custom. Either this weekend or the next, I'm going to be removing the landau top and flaking the roof. The question is color. I'm on the fence about either painting it Ocean Blue flake, or silver flake. I'm indecisive, so I can't make a decision on it. Second question is wheels. Astro Supremes and pinner whites are the ONLY choice for this, but the question is size. I'm not sure if I should go with a 15x6 or a 14x6. This car is going to be bagged within a month or so, but in the meantime I'm gonna cut the coils to get it lower. I don't want to go with a 14x6 and have them look too small, or go with a 15x6 and have them look too big. Tire size is also up in the air. What are the people with the Bellflower style rides running for wheel/tire size? I've been on the Los Boulevardos site every day for 2 weeks checking out their rides, so hopefully some of the Bellflower style guys on here will chime in and help me out with these paint and wheel/tire questions. Thanks in advance for any help. Being indecisive ****S! The pic was way too big to resize, so here's a link to the car in question: http://s125.photobucket.com/albums/p55/53SledSleeve/?action=view¤t=IMG_5077.jpg
Silver w/ blue panels. And I personally think that 14" sups are a little small for that car. Just make sure you take pics so we can all see.
that's sort of the direction I was thinking....that 14's would be a bit small. I was leaning more toward the 15x6 with a 205/70-15. Still on the fence though about the roof. I'm going to do it one solid metal flake color...no panels.
be sure to keep us posted on when you bag it... I would like to see how its gonna work out for you... I am getting ready to do mine here as soon as rainy season hits..If I get to mine first all post some tips for ya
wow, nice, reminds me of my old 67 coupe deville vert.i think white, silver, or even lite blue w/ flake top.as for wheels, i always liked cragers w/ spinners.i would go 15s with a 215/70 though.i had the same size tire with orig caps on my 67.gave me that small lowrider look without looking like i had roller skate wheels on it.good luck, keep us posted. -Jimmy-
Damn Lucifr.....now you've got me leaning towards wide whites and supremes! Like I said, being indecisive ****s! I'll definitely do a post on the bag set up. I don't think I'm going to go all out with this one and make it lay on the ground. REAL low, but not on the ground. I've got my 53 chevy I'm going to save that for....that one will sit on the rockers. I'm going to go with 15x6 and 205/70-15's for wheels and tires. I had a friend photoshop both 15's and 14's on it...and the 14's look WAY too small for a car that size. I'm going to strip that landau top off this week and get the roof prepped. Hopefully by that time I'll have figured out what color I'm going to paint it. I'm still 50/50 between Ocean blue flake or Silver flake.
15" supremes with pinner whites, blue flake roof and a drop. No bellflower tips, don't think they look good on Caddy's...
I've got 14" Cragars and Astros for my Galaxie, but I agree with everyone that 14"s are too small for your car. If I ever get myself a '60's Caddy I want to go with 15" Chrome reverse with spiders and goldlines. oso64: How wide are the rims on your wagon? I've been thinking of adding some chrome reverses to the Galaxie wheel collection, but I'm indecisive about width. Yours have the look I'm going for.
53SledSleeve, Stay away from 14's on a big car, 14's work well on smaller cars like '54 Chevys. I thing the Ocean Blue flake would look cool, the silver is a little too hard looking. Supremes have a true Bellflower look with narrow white walls, 205 or 215 70's - 15's would work out fine. On a Caddy stay away from the Bellflower tips, spot lights. Caddy's don't need the extra add on's there cool without them. Im a '49 Caddy man............ Cruiser
No bellflower tips, don't think they look good on Caddy's...[/quote] yup .your right , DON'T DO IT , they **** on caddys haha
ya I am running stock 15" steelies with 54caps/bullets right now but the ride height sure needs to come down a little... hopefully this winter all bag it and lose the caps and chrome out the steelies...
15x6. I think a solid flake roof works on older cars, but the large, flat roof of a late 60's car needs something to break it up...
It refers to the car scene in Bellflower California in the 60's. A lot of Watson and Bill Hines creations would cruise through Bellflower.
