I put my buick on the bay for sale and it didnt fetch ****. I need to get rid of it to free up some room. I have put a lot off time into the body work to get it straight but the colors I shot it are almost stock looking. My question is what do you guys think leave it alone or mask off some scalups and shoot it hot rod black. (I already have a gallon at the shop)
It's just my opinion, but if you have a ton of time in making it straight, why not paint it.....Seems to me that most cars look more expensive when they shine.....expecially a custom. Don
How about some scallops that are the same color as the roof? Although, as you said, the colors are pretty stock (not too exciting, but nice), so the silver? scallops might not be enough. Great looking car, what's the price?
I am trying to get 8000 for her. The interior is painted to match the outside and cleared. That is the reason i was gonna keep the green for the scalups. Heres a pic of the inside. I would love to paint it black but I do not have to money to buy paint at this time per my other project has consumed me
Man I would find a few bucks and hit it with a good single stage ...cut and buff and flip....a gallon shouldn't be too prohibitive if you don't go top of the line paints.
I can get a gallon of kustumflatz black for 120 and a gallon of their shinny clear for another 100 bucks. Is that gonna help the car sell any better though?
If i were loooking for a ride i woul dmost definatley take either one. If the car runs as good as its looks then yoou should have no problem selling it for 8 grand. But it seems there is more people wanting the shinier cars. Good luck either way someone getting a kewl car
I don't know...when most people see a car in suede they figure it's because the car isn't ready for real paint and is hiding something....for top dollar I would say shiny stuff....but ya never know for sure.
I am unsure of painting it shinny because the bempers arent in perfect condition. they look ok on the car in suede but if I paint it shinny I am afraid that the bumpers may take away from the rest of the car.
Shoot it with some clear. It will look better and whoever buys only needs to get bumpers. Bumpers are cheaper than a paint job.
when you see a nice car in prime that,s done it looks like you are hidding something so i say make it shine just my 2 cents
FWIW, the flat paint and patina fad is about over. The OSR crowd doesn't have 8 Gs anyway. It's a pretty car, if you can shoot it yourself, use the same colors, but single stage shiny stuff. If the body is pretty straight, people can imagine rechroming the bumpers.
If you're worried about the bumper taking away from the shiny paint job...just take them off and tell seller you have them. 2 things happen then....... One: Bumpers ALWAYS look better on the floor of a shop/garage then on any car. Two: Most cars "look" better without bumpers anyhow..... I think that Buick would look sweet with no ends on her. Good luck with your sale....doesn't seem 8K is out of line. But I agree, get some shine on her! I'd scallop her if you're keeping it, but don't ad your personal touches to a blank canvas for a prospective buyer, will probably reduce your sale base.
I agree , a light scuff and then shoot clear and it will look great -- I do think it looks good now , but it's just like a shiney penny -- not worth any more but catches a little more attention !!
I agree w chilli Phil also. I was building it to keep it for a while but now Ive changed my mind. It was the first time me doing bodywork myself (after hanging out at a bodyshop for years) so I was unsure of the quality. That is why I flattened it
God, I hope you are right about this. There is no way I would paint that car black unless it was gloss black. Good luck- I think the car looks great.
Ever thought about another color? They don't call it "resale red" for nothing! Just my $.02....great looking ride by the way...Good Luck!
how much more time and money do you wanna spend?? but like the brother said a friday and some beer sounds good
