Progress pix: my roadster - aka Jimmy White rules!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by beatnikontinental, Jul 30, 2007.

  1. I've been meaning to post some photos up on my roadster build for a while. Its been a long road since my ol roadster was bombing down the highway - but its coming back now - way better and stronger than ever thanks to the considerable skills of Jimmy White and his Circle City Hot Rods crew. He and the fellas have been working on it for a while - and we brought it back to Texas on the way home from Paso this year to finish up back here. Now I've got it blown apart in my garage and getting it prepped and ready for paint before it all goes back together again.

I really can't say enough about the level of craftsmanship and details that have gone into the fabrication of the frame and chassis - my photos aren't gonna do it justice - Jimmy says its his favorite thing to do - and it really shows. Check out the drilled gussets on the kick-up in the rear and the details on the tranny mount for example - once its done, you really gotta crawl underneath the car to appreciate how amazing it is - a true work of art.

I gotta give a BIG thanks to Jimmy for all his hard work and continuing to go way above and beyond on this car - its an honor to be the first "Texas representative" of his fine work. I promise I'll post more pix and keep ya'll updated on the progress - but heres a taste for now...

Jimmy does AMAZING work! Even the stuff that no one will EVER see is a work of art- that's why it's always a treat to stop by and see what he's working on before the body or paint covers up all the craftsmanship. Saw lots of work getting done to that roadster- glad it finally all came together.

Its not right that somebody can be as talented AND humble as Jimmy White!

Despite this new era of "Discovery channel-inspired, flaming iron cross rodzzzzzz" shops, Circle City just keeps making quality, tasteful, period correct cars for lucky customers...

  7. Man I want a 28/29 roadster....looks excellent!!!!

  8. Could I ask how much the frame is stepped and how much of a channel it has??
    Thanks, Fumes

    Jimmy rules!!

  10. Eagerly awaiting this one. Jimmy kicks ass, and was a very approachable, easy guy to talk to at the Roundup. The coupe with the blue plexi windows was my hands-down favorite!

  11. It looks great! You are lucky. That will be a KILLER ride.

  12. Looks great! I like the fact that he doesn't follow the "Is it a 2 or is it a 10" approach of late. I think if a rod looks great without a body that really shows craftmanship and dedication that few shops currently have.

Rumor has it tht Curtis' car will be at the Day of the Drags, unless he chicken's out.

Jimmy and the boys at Circle City do great work. They really seem to up the ante on each successive build that I see from them. And they don't come across with the big attitudes, either.

I sure can't picture Jimmy questioning whether those gussets needed to be a 10 or a 2 !

    Wow.
Love every picture you guys posted!
Those reinforced bones are awesome...and being a coupe guy, so is that little coupe!!!

Hey...is the "Bluebear" fella still at CC Hotrods? Just wondering...
(Thought he was a regular sorta guy on the "Boyd Follies" and I'd like to think he's being exposed to this level of REAL Hot Rodding ever since!)

  19. I love drilled stuff.
Those rear wishbones should be chromed and put on a pedestal as art.

Excellant quality workmanship by all involved.

  21. another shot of that brushed aluminum dash - its actually two pieces welded together - looks deceptively simple, but I know it was a trick to make it

I like those little detail thingys. My favorite thing to do is find a car that has been built like this one has, and try to "find 'em". Added up, they make a car into art.

Thanks everyone for the kind words!! Brian's car was fun to build, I think my favorite part was building the dash, Me and my little woodworker friend "GEPETTO" got to make a hammer form for the lower part of the dash, to make it look similar to 32 style. I am stoked for Brian to get this car going. I cant wait to see it in October.
