  5. I really liked the pick-up. But that Diesel bucket! POS!!! He could build nice cars, but chooses to build "art" cars. The spider bucket was another abortion! And you wonder why the "Goldchainers" call our cars ratrods. He's why! And Bo Huff.

  11. I like the fancy hood latch. It makes it look like the thing has a booger hanging out of it's nose.

I wish I could have gotten a picture of this, I wandered a junkyard of sorts Wednesday - the guy buys nice stuff and had a lot of runners stashed aside - and here is this '50 Pontiac that looks like it was someone's nice driver once, mildly customized - by completely tossing the stock grille and badly fitting a tube grille meant, I think, for like a 79 Chevy pickup, in the opening. Add a pair of bullet lights on each side for turn signals and paint it all a grey color.

I think I'd sooner run a really shitty stock grille, even if it was patched up with aluminum tape and chrome spray paint. It would be less embarassing.

  12. Holy shit, I wouldn't have looked at this thread right after eating if I had known that would be on here. It hurts my eyes to look at. I mean, it's like a great boob job on a transsexual - a lot of work and effort and the result still looks like hell. That could be the first pictures in a book called "How NOT To Build a Custom" ... I mean, the paint is bad enough, but all the changes are just wrong. Yikes. If I had to choose between that and a Hyundai.. well, I guess I'd just walk home.

  13. I heard that the Guild owns Concepts on Wheels and Oddball Rodz.

  14. Other than the colors, I think its a killer car.

The colors just look a little too much 1980's pastel for me and seem out of place on an obviously 60's custom. If it was my car I would paint it and call it done. But since its your car, you can do what you want with it.

And I do have a car, that while its not a wild full custom, certainly isn't stock.

    [IMG]Two expressions I learnt from reading old Rod mags were;
"Organic Custom" and " Visual Tuna"
    This fits both reasonbly well...

Not A bros, I believe it's a "Corky's" custom. NO, not the TV show Corky, but a NJ customizer form the 50's.
Later went on to move to CA and work for Barris.
He DID do some tasteful stuff, though.......

  21. I never understood the thought on the back styling to that car.. it looks like it just needs a sign that says "Lowes Theatre" or something mounted on the deck lid. Or maybe just "MENS" with an arrow.

That is a famous Aussie rod built in the 60's and called the Sedoupe.
It was built by Graham Davis from a sedan.I believe it is currently being restored to its early days.I was friends with one of the early owners(Terry Dix Newcastle) in the 70's.

  23. That's the "Parisian" or "Le Parisien" but that doesn't begin to describe it. It was the work of independent east coast customizer who used it as credentials to make the move to Los Angeles and go to work for one of the well known custom shops (forgot which one).

This is one of the cars that really fueled the so-called "East Coast vs West Coast Rivalry".

It had heard that someone is restoring it.

I'll get some flak from this one, but the car's never been appealing to me. (You gotta respect the men behind it though.)
