Okay, I just did a search. The info I found doesnt show any pics of someone with a EFI set up on a 440 RB.

I also am relativly new to the mopar world, being in chevys all my life. I also have searched online and Im having a hard time finding out what a wedge and a max wedge is. Mopar buffs, some help please??

    I have a 1974 440 RB/727 combo. But Im not sure if its considered a wedge/max wedge.

Lastly, hilborn website says they have a EFI for wedge and a max wedge, but didnt say for BB or RB. Is it the same?

Thanks for filling in a fellow HAMBer on the "Mopar or no car" ways!

Max wedge was made in 413 and 426 displacement. Both are based on RB block as is your 440 too. Your 440 is of wedge design.

There are "B" and "RB" bigblocks and the main difference is the deck height, "B" engines (383, 400) also have smaller diameter main journals. The main difference between Max wedge and wedge is the heads, max wedges have their own intake and exhaust manifolds.

Check www.moparts.com and www.bigblockdart.com for more info.

It gets confusing when they discuss he 383 RB engine...You will probably never see one of those,I never have. The 350 was a 58 only deal and the b engine was around for a long time as 361/383/400... The Max wedge engines were 426 cubic inch RBs with the Stage 3 version at 13.5 compression. RB engines were internally balanced until early 72, after that they have much heavier cast cranks and heavier rods...Hope some of this info helps..

My grandmom had a '62 or 3 Dodge 880 with the 383RB motor in it. Smaller bore longer stroke than the later and more common 383. I did a vlave job on it once. Ran OK for 2 bbl big hunk of iron.

Thanks guys. So what Im reading here is that the wedge and max wedge are heads that are different from the plain 440 heads. In other words, its a 440 block, with different heads. If thats the case, then the hilborn EFI that they have right now, thats offered only for wedge, wont work on my motor.

TwinH, am I correct in that? Im a little confused on what you said. A 440 IS a wedge, but not a max wedge?

Thanks for any more help guys
