Dear Fellow HAMBers, Plea from Fat 141 in Australia, anyone near Gilbert who can check out a 1945 Pick Up for sale
I may be going into Gilbert today or Friday. If so I can stop by and take some pics. Send me the address.
Would this be a 1945 Ford Truck belonging to Don Stevens? If so, it is a cherry stocker in tip top condition. Not many 1945 models around.
More info please. Is is a private individual or a dealer? eBay? I'm a few miles away, and I know 2 "pro" sellers in Gilbert. One's honest and has nice stuff well represented. The other has over-described **** piles that are machined out of a billet of bondo and painted with a roller, but they photograph nicely.

Just spoke to Bob, I am heading over to take a look at the truck in a few hours for ya. If you shoot me your number I will give you a call with my findings.
I went and looked at the truck this morning for you. The truck is really nice looking and definitely unique being a war time truck from the states. Not very many were built in those years. I looked at the truck as if I were looking to buy it, so after crawling around the truck for about an hour this is what I found. 1. All fenders are full of bondo whom ever did the body work cut the edge of the rear fenders off the screwed new pieces back on and bondo them smooth. 2. There are a few cracks in the bondo work around the old gas filler door, and the cab at the upper back edge of the driver door. 3. The running boards are covered with vinyl padding, and the running boards are not flush mounted to the braces under the truck. 4. The wiring is a typical mess but everything seems to be in working order. 5. The suspension is a bit odd/scary for my taste. The truck has both coilover shocks, and also truck coil springs on the rear axle??? The upper cups for the coil springs are only s***ch welded instead of being completely welded to the frame. The coilover shocks are mounted oddly as well, hard to explain. The upper mounts like an old mustang front shock. There is a bar through the eye of the shock with holes in both sides for mounting to a plate. Only one side is being used so the other is just there. 6. The interior of the truck is not done with safety in mind. The seats are bolted to some ¾” particle board. There is a bit of overspray in the door jams of the exterior paint job. I did not test drive the truck only started it up. The truck sounded ok but unsure of the performance. Again this is what I see with this truck. Hope this helps you out. S**** Iron
