I was looking around the web for some pictures of an old show rod from the early 80s called "Crazy Horse"...a yellow (a**** other colors!) 27 T roadster with a big wing and a sparkling Hemi owned by Tony Ferelein (or possibly Tommy Federlein? It's been a couple decades so I forget!) Probably too 'blinged' (as if that term existed then!) for most folks, but I saw it at the Detroit Autorama in 1981 or 82 and thought it was the cat's ***! Glittering, explosive excess personified!!! I can't believe there's NO pics of this heap ANYWHERE out there?? It was featured in a few magazines of the day, and in the Autorama program book "Hot Rod Show World" for certain...I just don't have any of them issues anymore! Anyone out there got a few pics to scan or old issues to sell? Hook a brutha up, Man!!
I am happy to hear that people still remember "Crazy Horse". Tony was my father and he loved that car. I grew up with him building it in our garage and spent countless hours underneath the car with him pretending to know what I was looking at. I tried to click on the link of the pic above but that post was in February so I was unable to retrieve it. If anyone has more pics of the car I would appreciate them. As for the enemy, I'm guessing you were a compe***or of his?
No, he just means that the car was built for car shows...lots of polish, chrome plating, gold plating, etc.......not a driver, or traditionally styled/built.....this is a traditional board, so we tend to look askance at other vehicles. He didn't mean anything in particular by it, we might have said the same about a Corvette. I have...SOMEWHERE...a magazine picture or two of the T. If memory serves they are B&W & not very detailed- it was a review of a car show rather than a specific article. If you don't have any luck finding anything else, drop me a PM & I'll search for them for ya, no sweat.
That makes sense. I have a pretty cool pic of him driving the car with my mom riding shotgun but it was far from a daily driver. It was in a music video by a band called "Mother's Finest". I don't know if that can be found though.
Here's a few photos I've gathered since I first made this post, for anyone wonder which car I was refering to. Still turns me on to this day! (Even WITHOUT Ms KC Winkler standing next to it!!!)
That is too cool. I haven't seen a couple of those pics before. The last picture with the Candy Apple Red paint scheme was taken in the driveway of the house I grew up in. Memories.
ooooooaaaaaahhhh, so shiney. i cant even imagine the buckets of elbow grease you guys went through to buff that thing for shows.
To be totally honest, my sister detailed the car more than I did. I was busy racing quarter midgets and playing football.
While the car was on tour in Europe, my dad got a call from an attorney whose client wanted to buy the car and he sold it. He regreted it immidiately and went to buy the car back at an auction but was outbid by a man named Don Paul II from Longstreet, Louisiana. That was in the late '80's. I don't have any record of the car since then.
I remember seeing that car at the World of Wheels in Atlanta many years ago, 30+ years ago. Jeremiah, did you guys live in Atlanta back then? For some reason i thought it was based here. Also, wasn't there a motorcycle that was paired up with it?
Jeremia...Hi from Atlanta from some of you dad's old pals. George Hair & Reggie Martin. How's you mom these days? Reggie/Atlanta 678-488-5461
Yes to both. We lived in Marietta and there was a supercharged custom Kawasaki called "Mighty Fine Whine" that accompanied the car during some shows.
I saw the car at the Stone Mountain car show back then. Tony was driving it around and every time he switched the push-****on shifter from reverse to first the whole car would nearly jump off the ground. NOT just a trailer queen.
Thanks for the pics Michael. I was at that car show with my quarter midget that had the same paint scheme as Crazy Horse. Thanks for defending the reputation of the car as not being a trailer queen as well. It definitely got the neighbors attention when it was started. My mom drove it as well. She told me that she took my sister and I to the store in the car. It probably only happened once but she tells the story so well. I wanted to let everyone know that I found the original car this past Christmas. It is in near perfect condition and has been immaculately cared for. It has been in the same air conditioned room for the last 21 years. The owners haven't changed a thing on the car. They will be showing it again early next year. I have some current pics but I don't know how to put them on here as a thumbnail. Does anyone have any advice?
I created an album of new and old pics of the car on my profile. I have a ton more pics of the car so any requests are welcome.
i spent a good bit of time at your house helping your dad with the car, we drove it to the varsity from your house one night, and then we drove it from your house to stone mountain for a rod run, overheated the hell out of the car. as i recall you burned your leg one day on either the car or the motorcycle . i remember tony quit well. and crazy horse and the motorcycle.
