Couldnt Find a previous thread so here it is. Finally finished this 51 Chevy Fleetliner. Rolled front pan, i brought the fenders into make the car looks rounder, which came out pretty good i though. Chopped the roof till it looked good... I canted the rear tail lights and reversed a 55 chevy bumper bar which is resessed into the quarters, also brought the rear in to achieve a rounder look. Not sure if i will run skirts or not???
Nice start! Haven't been building this week, but won some ribbons at the county fair. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has been up to.
heres my contribution, i didnt realize its already sunday haha i'm re-doing the chop on my old '40 ford coupe taildragger i built last summer, the old bodywork didnt hold up well
dammmm nice start for this sunday the 51 is killer looking, i cant wait to get a chance to do that kit, i scoured the city looking for it this past week with no luck. Guess im going to have to hit ebay and ol skool that taildragger looked pretty good to begin with cant wait to see the reincarnation. ill get some pics up in a lil while of what i been doing all week
Where did the louvers in the hood of that '40 come from? Looks good! I havn't been doing much...just a bunch of piddly stuff on these. Clearcoated the frame on the T, so it can be colorsanded and polished and finally ***embled. The ch***is for the pickup will come fom the Beatnik Bandit, though the rear will have to be narrowed a lot. Got a coat of primer on this one. Bunch of little stuff on the body to fix/finish, but it's close to paint.
Got a slight tech question...How do you strip old paint from the model without sanding or removing or warping the plastic??
Strip paint with Easy off oven cleaner, strip chromed pieces by putting them in bleach for about 15 minutes. Did any model company make a 1/24 or 1/25 He**** ever?? Just curious. Paul
Here's a pic of a '66 Cadillac he**** by Jo-Han. They also made an ambulance. There are a number of resin he**** bodies on ebay right now.
Easiest way to strip enamel paint is using castrol superclean or purple power from walmart. Polar Lights has the caddi-ecto from ghost busters, it can easily be a he****. its a 59 i think Jimmy flinstone also has a 1948 ish caddi in resin, you know those super rare he**** with the etched windows and ****, awesome looking.
Make sure not to get the Easy-Off on the chrome plated parts or they no longer will be chrome plated. Now if that's what you are wanting to do, it's an excellent way to do it.
another thing about oven cleaner, dont get the fresh scent fruit flavors! they ****..get the nasty smelling high strength. Also get a ziplock bag big enough for the kit, why? insert the model and spray it with oven cleaner, then zip it quick, the gas buildup inside makes it work faster, remember it works of the fumes not really the liquid.
Right. I've found that the name brand works better than the generic or store brands also. One wouldn't think so and well, maybe it's just me.
Yep your right about that, easy off is the best Just a note, Oven Cleaner will work on lacquer and enamel paints
hey fidgiter, the models are looking good as always! i dont really know where the louvers came from, the hood i cut them out of looked to be a '37 ford, i just picked the hood out of a model parts box at a swapmeet along with a few other things, got it all for a buck! haha if you have plans to do some surgery on the '40 hood, i suggest that it dont be done, ever since i transplanted the louvers on the hood, it doesnt fit right anymore haha
Cool Stuff i have a few built but heres my 33 willys panel called the X-CAB started as a delivery i cut it down to make an ext.cab truck with black force slammer fenders on front and thom tayler wheels a blown 70 ls-6 and a 4 speed with a prowler trailer with chevy coupe fenders molded on hope you like later George
Cool to see others into 40 fords, heres a photo of mine , although it is pretty customized started as a delivery cut down with a willys front clip and injected LS-2 motor
I'd like to build a 'Vette like that. I had one a long time ago, I hadn't even started using paint on the kits yet, but I tossed a set of Cragars on it and man, it was *****in! The '53-'55 vettes are great as drag cars.
Dave, it's situations like this when that "ignore user" ****on come in realllllllly handy... Ahh, the thread is much better now
gotta respect the "mopar muscle" in the vette...lol...the hood wouldnt close with the 426 hemi in it...so i cut like hell and propped it up...
