Yup. Why is it I can add somebody to my buddy list, but... hmph. It's not that his models are bad - they're actually very nice - but it seems like they're always the same off-topic builds that he remembers to post once every month or two.

Eric, that truck is f-in badass! Would the Silhouette chassis be any better than the Beatnik Bandit?

I've never had a Silhoette actually, so I don't know. Cory's concept actually had a straight axle and hairpins, and while that would look good, I just figure if someone was starting with a '64 pickup, they probably wouldn't get rid of the IRS. I think I can make the Bandit chassis work, one way or another.

A few...I have the Polar Lights Ecto-1 which I converting into a hearse, just need to strip the paint and smooth some lines out..Johan made a Haulin Hearse kit and a few companies made some other hearse kits..All 60's based with the exception of the Ecto-1 which is based on a '59 Miller Meteor Combo..

Hnnn, nuttin from me, one day I will work on a model again. Now that I don't have a 1:1 project anymore I though I'd have all the time in the world, but nope.
Hey Dave, is the SAE site back up yet??

I haven't been on the SAE site in over a year - funny since I should be promoting the model show we're putting on at the primer Nats, but... I'd better finish up those trophies, huh?

I figure it's a good time as any to mention it, but in case anyone doesn't know about it, Hobby Heaven shut it's doors. I know a few of the posters here has posted there. The board is still up but they're no longer selling kits. This, along with Wally World no longer selling kits, AMT completely shutting down, and Revell being sold, are sure signs that model building is in for a change. I don't know whether to start buying up all the kits I can find, or to wait and see.

What can you expect? He's a pro street guy, building a pro street car, and he chimes in with his pro street build (yet everytime I see his posts pop up in an otherwise on topic thread, the level of progress has not changed) fairly often, yet rarely seem to catch any crap about it.

  13. Haven't seen it on the shelves yet - can't wait to find one though.

The Hobby Heaven board...I don't know when (or if, I suppose) they're going to fase them out. I checked out the closest one to me looking for the new Merc kit, but didn't find one. The shelves were full and they had all of the House of Kolor paints there still as well. It may not be true, either way I don't buy many models from them so it wont be a problem.

I didn't know about the '58, but have seen a test shot of the '55 and it is killer. I've been waiting on that one to show up, hopefully it's still a go.

If Revell keeps tooling up these new kits, I certainly wont miss the same old lackluster AMT re-issues at all.

  16. Is there a site with Revell news that you get your info from?

  17. Whats the new Merc kit come with for a motor and other goodies?

    Ah ok gotcha Fidgi.

The 58 impala is absed off the metal body american graffiti diecast, only they retooled everything else to make a kit. Its gonna be here soon in september, the 55 is here for november.

Heres a post with the 49 merc..

    i agree with fidge

if revell is truely getting ready to hit the market with all these new kits or retooled kits i may not miss AMT all that much either

they do for some reason seem to be my favorite kit manufacturer tho but i am looking forward to seeing how the new revell stuff does

saw the merc on ebay this morning and was at awe with the options it offered, hopefully the rest of the new stuff is as nice

oooooo weeeeeee, i cant wait to get my hands on it

same thing for that new 32, AMT's sedan was a swing and a miss but it served a purpose for lots of years

i been working on the new Revell 48 ford for the past couple of days it has some nasty looking box art that definatley does not represent the kit properly but as for the kit itself, i am rather please so hopefully this is just a sign of things to come

  21. Wow!Thanks for the links!I can't wait to get my hands on the Merc kit!

  22. Built this pretty mild 40 Ford back in the 60s.......been sitting around ever since. Have a few more kits unopened but haven't gotten into the mood to build them yet (past 30 or 40 years). Maybe when I retire.............

hey omega, have you checked any of the local wal marts for the merc? just want to know before i start out on my hunt for the merc kit tomorrow

  24. Our Hobby Lobby store usually has quite a few model kits. Our Wallyworld pretty much sucks for selection. Anyone do much with those resin models sold by miteymouse on ebay?

  25. New to the HAMB, Here's a couple I've done:

For some reason, a lot of the pics in those links aren't showing up for me. I did see someone's diecast version of the '58 though, and it looks pretty accurate. Don't know that I'll build one myself since I"m not the worlds biggest '58 fan, but it's gotta be loaded with cool parts like the custom Merc.

The '32 sedan is going to be one I stock up on for sure. The AMT kit is pure crap, it's not even close to looking right. The Orange Krate is the most accurate sedan body I've found, and you had to work the hell out of it to make it work right on the Revell '32 chassis. Also, having a correct sedan body is going to make it a lot easier to convert into a 5-window. Yeah, definately going to be spending too much cash on that one!

Chrome Streamliner, get lost! you're making everyone else look like hacks! :D Nice work Mr. Stillwagon. :)
