Day One, Friday Aug 3rd Detroit Mi to Addison, IL I drove Big Olds to work packed a ready to roll. All my work mates were thrilled to finally see a top on Big Olds. I cruzed home real quick where ChevyGirlRox was meeting me. She had her stuff already in the roadster by the time I got there and was ready to hi the highway for our 15 day adventure to Speed Week at the Bville Salt Flats. Megan and I left lovely Livonia at approx 5pm. My Mom stopped by to wish us safe travels .like Moms do. We called Rafs56 on the cell when we got close to his place, (about 10 miles from me). He hopped on the freeway as we p***ed by and fell in line. Megan in Larrys roadster Our red-headed step child, Ralfs56 in his daily driver Our first gas stop. Megan and I right away started giving him **** about having his top up ..and AIR on. Gotta give him credit though, his truck wasnt ready for the trip but he still decided to go. Scott was good for something .tightening the dzus fasteners when both popped off on one side and I noticed it flapping in the wind in my rear view mirror. Once we crossed over into IL OldBobSign meet us at a rest stop and leaded the pack into Addison for out visit to Hot Rod Ch***is and Cycle. Made it to Hot rod Ch***is without too much trouble I was absolutely shocked at the HUGE size of the place and how many projects were going on at the same time. First cl*** set up for sure. Very impressed. Kevin and Chad gave up the grand tour explaining the different projects and whats in store for them.

About 10pm we decide it was about time for dinner so Meg called their favorite Italian resturant which was closing and they said they stay open and cook for us so we all headed over in the hot rods. The family that owns the place greeted us with open arms and delicious food. It was very kind of them to stay late. We certainly felt like family by the time we left. Left the Addison area and headed to Larrys place to crash for the night. He stowed his El Camino at his shop with a couple of his other rides. Checked out some of his striped panels on the walls Megan was deciding whether she wanted to cruz cross country ******* or in the coupe..... she chose ******* of course. All in all a most perfect first day/night of our adventure. Id like to thank Hot Rod Ch***is and Cycle for hosting a Meet & Greet for us and giving us the opportunity to check out their awesome shop. Looking forward to mine and Big Olds next visit there .in the near future, right Kevin. Stay tuned for Day 2, our FANTSTIC time in Omaha sometime tomorrow. In a troubled world like today it confirms that when good people put out good energy, it comes back in rewards like this special treatment. And believe me, after spending last evening in thier company, they put out tons of good energy. Denise and crew are still cruisin' West, they just left my place in Gunnison Colorado about 5:15 PM Mountain time. The BIG OLDS, Deuce Roadster and Chrysler Crossfire looked great rollin' in the driveway. They are currently on the road to Durango and hope to get there tonight. Gave 'em the shop tour and got to hear some of their adventures so far. Gonna be some great memories by the end of this one ! Johnnie.
