you cant customize without knowing how to weld right? want to know if there are any welding classes taught out here in San Jose. Been searching all of the community colleges but nothing comes up. I dont want to go through an employment training facility because they want you to do a 6 hour class every day. gotta get started working on my 54 because stock is boring. any help?
Same for San Diego - don't see a specific welding course in the jr college catalogs. Bigger welding supply shops might increase sales by offering classes
Check with some of your local supply shops, they might know some one who will take the time to show you. Also maybe post an add on the bulletin board at the supply shop. Check into some body and paint classes at the community college, the one I went to in Modesto had a whole term on welding.
Just found this place Menlo Park, California, but have not taken any classes yet. Check it out. http://techshop.ws/index.html I did take a MIG class in Oakland at the Crucible, and that was cool. http://www.thecrucible.org/
I took courses for certification at Diablo Valley College. I don't know if they have a campus that far south. They have a few in Contra Costa County. If they do, the course is pretty good. I took MIG, gas and ARC. I got to the certification point in MIG, but didn't take the test after a falling out with the teacher.
One of the best welding programs in the country is right up 280 at the College of San Mateo (CSM). Since it's a community college it's cheap too. Terry
http://www.solanocoe.net/apps/docs.asp?Q=366 if anybody in Solano county is looking....about 200 bucks gets ya certified in mig, tig, stick ...pretty good deal
The ccoc program in San Jose is supposed to have an updated shop with all newer equipment. Get there early to register, I know a guy who stood in line for most of the day.
