After 2.5 months 31 just about done! let me know what you guy's think or any suggestions. bishop welding brings up a good point you guy's give me your thoughts on bump steer, I really wanted to do this car with cowl steering so I know the geometry is off but how bad can it be? is the car going rip the steering wheel out of my hands or move inch's what can I expect? like to hear from someone who has reversed an f 150 box Thu the cowl. also the pic's make the hood line look off but it must be the way car sits on downward slope coming out of my shop and the way I took pic's. the back lower extension is not finished at rear of tire yet, and I'm also thinking of an extension under doors the length of the body to look like it has a belly pan. keep your thoughts coming thanks for all the input.
I like it. I really like it a lot. You may end up with some bump-steer with the steering geometry set up the way it is. The rest of the car is dead on.
Nice work keep it up i like the dash very nice as with all the work so far, I think i would do some thing with the fire wall and rear deck mabbe roll under some but i no you are not done yet. nice ,I see all the little things you have done that takes a lot of time and thught that is what makes a good hot rod and yours will be a true hot rod. nice to see for a change. alley
That's a good lookin' ride!! Regarding the extended tailpiece issue, I think it might be a visual plus to extend the lowered edge forward at least to behind the tire by an inch or three. This will pretty much eliminate that severe edge that's hanging out there. The hood line is just a smidge off since the leading and trailing edges of the hood don't match the vertical edge of either the radiator shell or the cowl. The ultimate solution might be to make up a one-piece hood top without the bead on the lower edge which aligns with rad shell and then straight back to the cowl to an aligned edge there. It will be lower than "normal" at the back bust will flow better with the shell. The "problem" even without the bead is that drooping lower edge and the "crooked" fit to each end. BUT, all the same, it is a nice ride and I wouldn't do the extra work if I didn't see anything wrong. However, you did ask, didn't you?
Stand on the frame horns and bounce a little. That'll kinda give you an idea what the steering wheel will be doing. Until you drive it you won't know exactly how bas it is. It MAY not be too bad because your pittman arm is pretty long and may compensate some. I had a car with some considerable bumpsteer and it got really old, really really fast. If you're like me, it'll be a long time before it gets corrected once the car is drivable. I'd reccommend ironing the problem out now while it's still in fabrication stage in case you have to make any other adjustments around it. I can tell by the rest of the car that whatever you figure out it'll be right. I really like this car.
Damn sweet!!! But I gotta ask... 2 1/2 months???? Is that from the start to what we see?? You need to get off yer *** and get to work ya slacker!!!! Doesn't anyone in Cali have a job they have to go to? GEEZ!
Is the motor mounted solid?? The header looks very close to the drag link, may hit once the engine 'torques' over......I'd say move the shell up as well, but look at the old pics of regular guys hotrods "back in the day"....many of them had quirky details that set them apart....kinda makes 'em cool..(to me anyway)......either way.....you've got a nice car!
for all the guy's wondering how I got done so fast here are some of the tools I have in shop. not pictured are mill, lathe, mig, tig, slip roller and large mittler bros. bead roller, finger brake, hyd. shear. a**** others. thanks for all the pos. replies
