HRP you say you are leaving Friday am? Do you know if your Pop is going out with you or coming out later in the day? I have not gotten a response from my emails to him.....My boy and I are coming into town just after lunch Friday. We will see you at Asshole Garage base out on the salt.
There's a few pics up on the SCTA too, under the "2007 Results" link. Looks like there is still quite a bit of water at the end of the pavement as of yesterday, the 6th... This pic is titled "no wake zone"- Hope it dries out quick. Pete
Although I was initially planning on driving out in the coupster Since my club sent me a ticket, I'll be forgoeing the 2000k+ miles and arriving courtesy of delta... can't wait to see you all... Seriously it will be an honor to meet hambers at Mecca

We'll be stopping at Ratstars on the way there on thursday afternoon. Then pull into Wendover that night. One of my crew called the Peppermill today and got a room...lucky Bastad! Still thrashing on the Sedan...although if I don`t get a tire that works tomorrow,we may go to plan `B`...Pile in with Uncle Miles in the late model and leave Sunday afternoon....
House I hope yer get your sedan going alright, had to take the blown alchohol motor back out of me sedan and put last years motor back in,oh well! maybe world finals for the alchohol motor. Tim
I talked to my neighbor Mark last night who races every year, and according to him there is still three miles of water from road's end toward the pits which are 6 miles out. The courses are dry and are ready to run, but getting out there entails slogging through miles of brine... The water is dissipating daily, I hope it's gone shortly. Anyone else have any first hand info? This pic from the scta-bni website was taken at the road's end yesterday, Wed the 9th. Pete
Blueskies, I heard the same from a fellow yesterday evening. Ouch. That's hard on your cars guts. That being said, I'm leaving in an hour or so. Wayno
I am so glad that we are in a rental this year........I wish that I could bring a pair of vintage H2O skis.......that would be a classic shot behind a car.
No kidding... I can't imagine trying to get the salt out of my brakes. And it's a long way to pedal a bike to the starting lines... Maybe it will dry out in the next couple of days. There might be a hellava car show at the road's end... Pete
thank God my truck is a beater! But by the time I get there Tuesday (after a 2,000 mile drive from Atlanta), it might be dry. Well, if I'm still planning on leaving Saturday morning, I guess I better get back to work and finish the engine swap. And power brake conversion. And trans swap. Sleep? Who needs sleep? See you guys there! I'll be in the gray primered '62 Chevy Suburban with the grinning 12 year old son and Georgia tags. -Brad
So what is the best thing to protect my car from the salt? It seems like someone said spray it down with tranny fluid and after clean slowly by parking over a sprinkler.
Just a word of caution from someone who has been on the salt many times in all imaginable conditions. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DRIVE ANYTHING THAT YOU CARE ANYTHING ABOUT THROUGH THE SALT BRINE. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO PROTECT YOUR VEHICLE OR TO GET THE SALT OUT OF THE SEAMS AFTERWARDS. THE STUFF WILL DESTROY ANY METAL IT COMES IN CONTACT WITH FROM THE INSIDE OUT!!! Thats why most all of us racers have expendable tow and support vehicles. Take care , Gary.....
So if I drag my mother in law through there she might go away?? That would be nice. How does the salty brine treat leather boots?
fuck, what am i going to do, I am driving out my roadster but there is no way we are going thru that?
