So all this talk about Route 66 has got me wanting to road trip... I was planning on flying to the Hamb drags but if there are others driving, I would like to either hitch a ride (and help pay for gas) or maybe just follow along in my boring ol Ford Ranger... or actually, maybe me following you guys in old cars might me a good idea in case something breaks... we can haul parts and tools in my truck. Anyway... let me know if anyone is interested.
A chick who's into hot rods needing a ride............if one of you single dude's out there doesn't speak up your nuts!
Gracie, hope you get to make it to the drags. Looking forward to meeting you. I'm sure there will be someone coming this way that you can tag along with.
Now hhoooold on a minute... I ain't asking fer a date! Just would rather drive than fly, and don't want to do it alone!

Ah hell gracie, You're just across the country a little the wife and I'll cruise over and get ya. Actually if you end up flyin', come into KC you're welcome with us for the trip. The PKnBner
gracie, phx people are planning a caravan to mo-kan. more info as it gets closer but it looks like about 7 cars or so. not that far from vegas for a meet up. jerry
Just curious,,,, I'm new to this board, when and where are the HAMB Drags ???? I look around on some of the other posts and see if I can answer my own question
Hey Jerr... keep me in the loop... I was gonna fly to somewheres and meet up with my buds from Dayton Ohio, but I think they may wuss out so I'm gonna make other plans.
Hope you find a ride Gracie. Hey Denise, its the week before the Frog Follies, WOO HOO! I might get to go this year. I think me and my dad are gonna thrash on the vicky and try to get it goin for frogs, Maybe we can get it goin a week earlier? If not, i guess i could drive My boring old 93 GMC, or do the same as Gracie and see if anyone will be heading through my part and want to pick me up? Well, ill see when it gets closer. But now, i got a car to work on! Nick
Last year I drove 24 straight hours to the Drags & back in a clapped out toyota pickup with no radio and all I can say is IT WAS WORTH IT>
Hey FE02... I LOVE Mt Airy!!! What a pretty place! I used to be the business travel agent for a big factory up there.
Last year the wife and I left OKC on Friday after work and figured we would at least see someone heading to the drags...nope not one. Until we hit the parking lot of the host hotel we saw zero hambers. So is everyone gonna be at the hotel on Friday night? Where is the host hotel this year?
I guess it isn't much farther to Niagra Falls than to Nevada. Offer stands, if someone needs to fly in to make the trip there's room with us from KC to the drags.
Nick, I won't be p***ing thru St Louis on my way cuz I'll be coming from B'ville BUT we did go thru St Louis on our way home from the drags, SO, if you get a ride there, you can ride home in Big Olds. All the Michigan folks attending will probley go thru St Louis on the way there so you can probley hitch a ride with one of the guys for the ride there. Think your parents trust "us" by now? You might want to check out sharing a room with one of the guys to help cut expenses. PM Beatnik, I know he's going, and he probley won't bring his girlfriend.
Thanks Denise for the info. me and dad are gonna try to get my car goin for the drags but if we cant ill try to make some plans. Nick
Sounds good. Don't get me wrong on this BUT even if your Vicky is running good and strong by then, canavaning should be the only way you should attend. Your much too young for a long road trip in a unproven, freshly done rod. I insist you travel with a group there and back.
The shoebox is still in Bama, along with my house and all my freeking belongings! I've been out here a year now with no furniture... only my clothes and my computer and my truck! My Dad keeps the Ford running and I drive it when I go home... but I got to get it out here soon cuz if I don't I will prolly buy another one... and I need to finish one project before getting another...
Gracie < desert = Ranger [+ a/c + 6 cd disc changer + cruise control] = good Gracie / shoebox [- a/c - o/d - radio] + 1700 miles = bad
Hey Mom........uh....uh....I mean Denise! I dont think i would do it any other way than to caravan. If no HAMBers come through this way or dont want me to tag along, ive got a buddy with a *****in 37 chevy (flat black, www's) that would probably wanna go to. Plus I highly doubt i will race it too since it will be so fresh. Well, thats even if i get it ready in time to go!My dad will definately go too. Later Gracie-Im not tryin to hijack your post here. sorry Nick
unprove cars on road trips rock.. but kill your nerves. I would not recommend but I did do it, kinda. did the first 500 with a group but the remaining 3000 were alone... The road at night can be a dangerous place, I was worried about going to the truck stop bathrooms, some of those long haul truckers can look scary....
Grace Ann........I hope that your not talking about us...I am all good to go...I think it's my better half that you better convince...HA!! Anyhow, I just went through some plans with her, and I got's an idea. She can tell you tomorrow... Besides this post kinda got sidetracked....I thought it was you looking for a ride...we got your ride. Love, Duke
I know a couple of us,ME,Junkyarddog, and probably Sparky54 will be coming down from Wis.again.We will most likely be the only ones though cuz them gay cheaters switched their date for their show to the same weekend as the drags AGAIN!!!We may have room for one person? Will know more closer to the drags. DAN P.S. I started out driving my truck all the way to Minn.(4.5 hours) 2 weeks after it was built.YEH it broke down but what a great conversation piece now. It's the journey thats fun.We build them to drive them RIGHT!!!
