My parts hauler scares people. I jokingly call it the R.V. because its just so awful looking. Now it looks worse than the pic. It has a cap on the bed.

  3. If its real light, I use my S10 and tow dolley. I am contimplating throwing my spare 350 and TH700-R4 into the S10, but I would like to keep it stick. Anyone have an S10 NV3500 kicking around?

If not.....I call my buddy bill with the 1 ton chevy and 10K rated trailer.

My tow rig the day I brought it home.

It's filthy, has a few dents, and is no show winner, but being able to pull a 6% grade and not lose any speed with 10k lbs on it sure kicks butt.

I get 17-19 mpg running on B100 back and forth to work. I fill it with B20 when towing.

For now, it's bone stock. It'll be seeing a Edge or Bullydog contoller likely by the end of the year though.

  9. Found on E-Bay and bought for less than £350, my 1981 Mk5 Ford Cortina Estate. Had less than 40k on it when found a year ago but turned to just over 50k from new on this trip to pick up an Anglia.
Daily driver, tow car, rubbish removals, parts fetcher, it does it all. Bless.

    It's not THAT hideous!

It's actually kind of charming... like a really ugly 70s couch. :)

We agree. We're talking about hauling your rod home BEFORE it's a rod. You know, barn finds, field finds... possibly unwise swap meet purchases. :)

  21. This is my hauler the day I bought it back in '02. It will be back to work once I find an Allison and an Aux Tranny to replace the POS Dodge calls a Tranny. And yes, the current trans has a V/B and double coolers. Cummins 5.9 with Delphi injectors and an HX-40 through a 4" stack running 17* on the pump.

It intetesting what we use. He we tend to use larger rides, like trucks, vans etc.. overseas in England, they tow with what we consider compact cars.. I would never consider using a Ford Escort or a honda Accord wagon to tow another car. but I guess when you dont have F250 PU or even half tons you do what you have to..

Man, wouldn't folks in the UK stare at an F-350 Crew Cab Diesel Dualie going down the road... if it could fit in a lane. :)

I tow with this vintage '86 piece of rusted iron.... actually for a cheap tow rig its been a pretty good truck... its a 6.9L Diesel backed by a C-6 with a shiftkit. It will not win any races but It'll get the job done... the 8 cans of walmart dark blue and 3 cans of rustolium white helped a little i think... I use it to pull a 18 ft car trailer..

My toy- 83 chevy rollback. I'd like to put a 58-59 cab on it some day.

Going to Blue Suede cruise at Norwalk - don't want a hitch on the biscayne so I had to haul it.
