When I was in the UK, I had a '37 Model-Y - I always wanted to put a V8-60 in the thing. They're made weird - the body is rivited to the frame. They're tiny as hell. The original 4-cyl isn't even 2' long & under a liter (988cc???). It was neat to drive. Here's a pic next to my '34
I am wondering if its a cut down car. Would have thought back of cab would have been metal. Anyone know for sure?
Sure it is a cut-down car, however, in the UK there were body modification outfits all around. The commercial market there demanded all manner of little delivery and carrier vehicles...and the free market provided them in spades!! Just like the mul***udes of conversions and so on available for the Ford Model T in the US and everywhere.
Most UK "commercial" applications were simply cut down cars. Even into the '50s, it wasn't uncommon for the spe******t market to begin with p***enger cars, remove what they didn't need, add what they did, etc.
Yeah, I've seen it a few times. Its cool - but after much debate (as happens a lot with me) I think I'll p***. Although it is really neat lookin'! I need another project like, well you know. Thanks for the info - and feel free to give the guy a call if anyone else is interested!!
