    Guys,

We have updated our website to reflect some changes in Dixie Fried this year. The first thing is that Dixie Fried will be held on both Saturday and Sunday! Saturday will retain our same theme as years past: "Driven pre-'64 cars, hot rods, kustoms, and bikes welcome." while Sunday we're opening the field to include cars up to 1974. So drag out your 70 Cadillac pimp-mobile, Stabbin’ Cabin Chevy Van or your bitchinest Detroit muscle cars. I'd love to see an altered wheelbase Mopar roll in with the thunder of an uncorked Hemi rattling the fillings out of everyone's teeth!

We have also added an award to honor our friend Marc "Tophat" Fenyo who sadly passed away this year. Tophat was a fixture at every past Dixie Fried and it will not quite be the same without him.

We have negotiated rates with the folks at the Drive-In that will get old car drivers and one guest in for the reduced rate of $15/day (normally $22). To get this price, you NEED to present a coupon at the gate which can be found on the front page of our website:

    http://www.theroadkings.com

The coupon will allow the driver and one guest in a pre-65 vehicle on Saturday and a pre '74 vehicle on Sunday admission into Dixie Fried at Drive-Invasion for $15 each per day. Please print out the coupon and show it to the front gate attendant for your discount. Also, fill out the registration card and show it to a Road King parking attendant when you arrive at Dixie Fried where he will assign you a number. You will keep the registration on your windshield or dash.

Load in for registered cars begins at 10:00 AM the day of show. Cut off for registration is at 2:00 PM.

Sunday, we will be holding a 50/50 cash raffle with 1/2 of the cash going to the lucky winner and the other 1/2 donated to Operation Sandbox. Operation Sandbox is a Georgia based charity which provides desperately needed items to our troops stationed overseas.

As always, feel free to contact me directly for more information.

    Regards,

    Chris

    Hey Guys,
Other changes to Dixie Fried this year include a change to the actual location at the drive-in. This years event will be held in the upper parking lot. There is an improved snack shop with an improved bathroom situation, I'm told, and showers for campers. So far we will also have far more room to park everyone. Therefore, if your club or group wants to "reserve" some spaces (some of you already have) contact us atlroadkings@yahoo.com or PM T-Bone and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
Hope you come out this year (even you Sock F&*%$ers). Like every other year, this year stands to be even bigger and better.

Anyone have a list of nearby hotels? I don't think I want to do the camping with an 11 month old little guy. I've been trying google/mapquest etc., but I want to be sure the place isn't a shit-pile. Just looking for someone to do the work for me. :p

  5. I guess "IF" I haven't thrown a rod, tore out the tranny, twisted the drive shaft into a bow-tie, or ripped the new gears out of the rearend at MOKAN i'll put the street tires on the old Henry-J and come join the fun in the hot ass Atlanta sun. Hope to make it!!!

    STEWED!!!

???? Will there be any moonshine, presure treated wood or farm animals involved at the Dixie Fried, or is that held in reserve for Brads gigs alone????

Heres a list of hotels I compiled awhile back. The Highland Inn is also a good bet. If you really want a dose of Atlanta culture, stay at the Clermont Lounge/Hotel

    http://www.clermontlounge.net/

    Hotel list:

In Atlanta proper, close and safe:

    Comfort Inn Turner Field
795 Pollard Blvd SW, Atlanta, GA
    (404) 658-1610

    Country Inn & Suites
759 Pollard Blvd SW, Atlanta, GA
    (404) 658-1961

    Close (20 mins) and safe:

    Red Roof Inn-Stockbridge
    637 Highway 138 W, Stockbridge, GA
    (678) 782-4100

    Best Western Atlanta South Motel
    619 Highway 138 W, Stockbridge, GA
    (770) 474-8771

Very close, may not be the safest, (likely to be people selling drugs and/or sex in the parking lot:)

    Econo Lodge
    3140 Moreland Ave, Conley, GA
    (404) 363-6960

The drive in has assured us that there will be an ample supply of bathroom facilities!

Thanks T-Bone. Somehow I don't think the Clermont will work for the wife and kid.

update: Booked at the Highland (thanks Stu), everything else was full.

Question... I've seen no mention of admission for children. Is my 11 month old son going to be charged $22 as well?

Kids, I believe under 12, are traditionally free. You won't have any problems with an infant.
