I bought two off topic older cars to flip for car funds. I have a guy calling from australia that wants to buy them. i'm cool with that i just want to make sure i'm not screwing myself. he is going to have a shipping company called interglobal pick them up and they are gonna give me cash. i don't want have the pink for one of them so they are going to hang onto a grand until i get it. what do you guys think? here are the cars in question.

Did you do a Google search on the shipping Co.? I did. The company is called Interglobal Logestics. They look straight up. I would contact them and see what they say. Keith

Scammers don't usually call and they don't usually pay cash, so it sounds ok to me.

He won't be able to export them or register them in Australia without the ***le, so it is reasonable that you have some incentive to deliver that.

If you are really worried, maybe one of the local Aussie Hambers can give the buyer a ring and check him out for you ?

I wouldn't trust anyone to take a car from me and not get payed in full beforehand, also I would be weary of the fact that a third party is paying for it. Also if this is a transaction through ebay I wouldn't even bother as every time I sell on ebay I get multiple scam artist contacting me with all sorts of crazy plans to steal my money.

well if they don't have the green when they come to get the cars punch'em in the balls. if it was a scam he would have given you a cashiers check that was no good and said oops i made it out for too much and want you too send the balance.

Maybe if you change the ***le of your post to something like "Aussie Hamber needed" you might find someone who will help you out ?

For what it's worth, I bought a car out of the US from a Hamber and I got someone else to pick it up and pay cash.

There's not a lot of other ways to do it, especially since you've got to remember that the buyer also has concerns about depositing money the bank account of someone overseas that they don't know.

How long will it take you to get the pink slip ? It sounds like the deal would go smoother if you waited until you had that.

This kind of **** is touchy. I once sold a motorcycle to a guy in Norway. I couldn't tell you how hesitant I was, I just covered my ***, did some homework and looked at it from every angle I could to avoid getting screwed. In the end he turned out to be a very cool cat and the transaction went smoothly. Not everyone is out to screw someone but treat every one like they are.

thanks guys i used a reverse direcrary i the shippers # and it seems legit. but i'm still freaking out. the cars are in my driveway and i'm afraid they are just gonna take them. i'm also gonna go buy one of those pens to check the money.

  17. Don't know the guy, but I'm not seeing where the problem is with cash. If you're that worried, get the money wired or an International Money Order sent.
BTW, he's probably JUST as worried as you about the deal.

In god we trust all others pay cash! I don't see a problem with cash, if you're nervous about the grand withheld why don't you delay the deal until you've got the ***les squared away? If it's like Simonsez it sounds like he has more to lose than you do.

I would FOR SURE get me one of those pencils to check cash for counterfiet bills, there is a lot of counterfiet money floating around especially in the car & motorcycle hobby.

If the guy is going to pay cash whats the problem? If you were buying a car from Australia would you send the cash direct to the owner without a third party being there? I think not. Get ALL the guys details & get the ***le asap!!

Remember we are not from Mars, we just live the other side of that big creek!!!!

Hey. We got scammed by US Postal Money Orders that were forgeries and the bank cashed them without scanning the embedded chips. We were (my wife & I were still held liable). International money orders are no different & are being forged out of Dubia UAE from what I hear, same as US Postal money orders. Just goggle money order fraud, then take the chance if you want.

He can't import the cars into Australia with out a Vehicle import approval. If he manages to do it,the cars are worthless and can only be used for parts.
he also has to get you to fill in the parer work BEFORE he get's this. There are dozens of companies buying up cars all over the world and importing into Australia ,so the system is preety switched on here to protect everyone from scams and stolen cars.
Tell him to forward the necessary do***entation FIRST!.
he HAS to go through these hoops first.
    http://www.dotars.gov.au/roads/safety/bulletin/importing.aspx

This Paragraph pretty well sums it up...
"...It is strongly recommended that you do not ship your vehicle to Australia until such time as you are issued with an Import Approval. If you ship your vehicle before receiving an approval and your vehicle arrives before the application is processed, you may incur storage costs from the shipping company/freight forwarder. You may also be open to prosecution, as it is an offence to import a vehicle without an import approval. Importation takes place when a vehicle is landed within the port of intended discharge and not once the vehicle clears customs control. If the import application is not approved, you will have to either export the vehicle or have it destroyed at your own expense. Destruction will need to take place under Customs supervision.
    Other considerations before importing.."

What is area code on his number? (61?-????-???? ) .perhaps he's read this?
Remember no cash -no gash..i mean car.

If it turns out he is here in WA Im happy to look into it for you. Next time he calls just ask for his number. The shipper might just be acting as escrow for him which would seem reasonable too.

Hi, I am Povertyflats buddy in Australia, I also live in Perth and I can verify that Panhead Pete is OK and he will get to the bottom of this for you.
No harm in checking out stuff like this especially if big money is involved, every country has their share of crooks, but mostly we are honest.
I was given the benefit of the doubt by a guy in UT for $2000, just drove out of his driveway owing him for an engine in my broke down truck and wired it to him 1 week later , never did need to do that except I am one of the good guys and there are others.

Make inquires, ask questions and develop trust.
If it waddles like a duck and quacks it probably is.

Boy it is hard for us guys over here to, same thing in reverse.
We can end up with no car and no money!!!
PM if you need more help.

    Goodluck, Russ.
