i called BE yesterday and talked to him about dropped uprights for my '53. just wanted some opinions on people who have used him for the uprights and how well they've held up.
truthfully, i'd go the fatman route, but they're a bit pricey for my taste. that's a lot of $$$$ to throw for only 2"-2-1/2" of drop.
let me know what you got.

    thanks

Didn't gambino customs have something on here a while back about droped uprights. I believe you would get an Alliance amember discount.

The only thing that would sway me one way or the other is if they are welded or forged. Fatman are forged I believe.

    Hey Chris,
I've got Buffalo's dropped uprights, steering arms, front disc brake kit and rear leaf spring kit on my 50 Fleetline. His stuff works. He engineers his parts to work on that specific year of Chevy and so far I haven't had a single problem. Everything bolted up the way he intended and I like the way his disc brake kit didn't push the wheels further out with a bearing adapter like most kits. Two thumbs up from me.

I had trouble with him getting parts. I sent a check October 5, 2006 for a 235 intake to be modified. I called after the first of the year to check on the status. On the 15th of February 2007 he returned my check and told me I was an ***hole for being impatient. Go figure.

I wont deal with him. He was a ***** to me. Besides, I have a hard time trusting my life with a welded upright. Buy the forged ones, not his.

He has a fantastic reputation. Anyone I know who has used his products has sung his praise. He's one knowledgeable dude, esp in the old school stuff.

see, i understand that no matter how "great" the company or the guy, there is also some who have had bad experiances....no matter who/what you're talking about.

my biggest thing now is realizing that Fatmans/Gambino is the only way to get FORGED dropped uprights that makes their price not seem sooo bad. it's still a bit outta my range...mainly cause i'm nothing but a poor kid trying to build a car:D
i'm building my car for a drive from Houston, TX to Vegas for my Wedding/Viva next april....i can't say i wanna chance a welded upright on a trip like that...and his stuff might be just fine...i just like the idea of FORGED over cut and re-welded.

truthfully, when it comes to these cars....the ONLY place/company i've NEVER heard anything bad about is Fatmans/Gambino's stuff. their stuff is good and they're good guys that like to help.
it's just hard to do the "cool" stuff when you're broke ;)

maybe i'll be better off sticking with what i got for now...and then when money permits, do it the right way.

    thanks all!

    Chris
