I have been beatin on this thing for what seems like forever. It is made from the remains of an old racecar and 3 sedans. A lot of people asked for update pics so heres the latest. This car is all steel, and lining up the sheetmetal was not easy. Now starts the LONG process of blocking primer. please view my other posts for more info.
We used just the first 3 inches from the body, from there out we made them and rolled a lip to make the bobbed fenders it has now.. the fronts were worse. They were narrowed way to much back in the day, and we added 4 inches from a set of model A fenders to them to get them back in shape.
Good job on saving what others would have s****ped instead of p***ing on to somebody more talented/dedicated than them.
Nice job dude! Man, I would have never had the skills to bring something like that back. Maybe one day, but i'm only building my first rod right now, so I won't be pulling anything like that off for a while. Can't wait to see it when you finish. I would also like to know what motor you're droping in it Cheers,
It tells me to quit complaining, shut up,keep head down, and get back to work. You set a high standard, Thumbs up.
Jim hard to describe how bad that car ACTUALLY was, isn't it? Guys you have NO idea, How far this car has come!! Wish I had more free time to go watch,I have so much **** going on and my measley internet escapades are all I get, to watch Jim in action and I am only 45 minutes away...Ken
The work you have done look's GREAT, and that's a major understatement.. It already look's bad***, and with a blown HEMI.......can't wait til it's finished.. NICE JOB! Tony
Great job!! You are, obviously, one of a small group of people who has the skill, the ambition, and the determination to pull off a rescue like this!! There are sooo many people out there who think they would like to be "hot hodders", but they have no damn clue how much hard work it takes. I love to see the results of someone's hard work and I don't mean opening the boxes the UPS man delivers!! If it was easy everybody would do it!!
That's going on mine but you can still buy them new. Mine is an old magnesium one but Hilborn now makes them in aluminum: http://www.hilborninjection.com/product.asp?Id=10&CatId=5
I could use a before and an after photo to email to every *** that writes whining about why this car or that car can't be restored. Good work!
Jim, the top left pic doesn't look too good. This would be the poster car for anyone that says a hotrodder ruined another good car. Excellant work!!
That thing looks great Jim. After helping you and Ken weld up his car body from a pile of rusted, folded, left-overs I have no doubt in my mind that for you anything is possible. The impossible just takes a little longer. Do you have any plans on another HAMB get-together at your place before we get burried in snow? I promise to stay off your english wheel. C H I P
