Flipping channels this morning and spotted Hot Rod TV on ESPN2. There was a guy building a neat 1930 model A coupe on '32 rails. He took the '32 rails and used an aircraft die to punch large holes in the sides of the rail and then boxed the rail with 1/8" expanded metal. Then he stuck a '58 Caddy engine and transmission in it. He mounted the body flat on top of the '32 rails and then sectioned the body through the middle. Last he cut the top off and installed a top from a '33-'34 2door. They didn't show him matting the top to the model a body but when he was done it looked like it grew there. Picture a Model A coupe with a '33 3 window top, put the doors opened like a model A's. (I'd love to have a body like that less the section to mount on my frame.) He then took the '58 Caddy and used the dash and door panels to make the inside look like a '58 caddy.
Wow! Any pics on the web? Sounds like a LOT of work, but at least you'd stick-out in a crowd of other model A's. It's gotta be a Hamber or a lurker.....
