Of course you need to remember that Ron Main went 302.674 with a Flathead, that's right, no Ardun, powered 'liner in '03. So nothing against Don,s acomplishment, but he isn't the first "Vintage Motor" to go 3. First unblown I think.

Don's liner is one of the nicest cars on the salt, next to his roadster that is!, and the engine is the best of everything but I'll bet Ron Main had more money in his blown Landy flat motor than Don has in his car!

Main's car was blown, Don was on 90%+, Main's car and motor was the best money could buy, Don built his own, Ron Main is an egotistical AH, Don III is a great guy. Just a couple of differences.

Don's roadster, just so you believe me. Engine is a 296 flat motor with Ferguson/Arden heads on "soda pop" of course!

I have many videos of this car making runs on the salt, always seemed strong - so I'm not surprised it finally made the jump over the big 300.

I think you are a little hard on Ron. You are right on about Don.

Yeah, but 300 with a flathead with or with out a air pump is a pretty big deal. 3 mains. Underhead valves. Comeon. Both of them did good.
