still getting the caddy as straight as possible,,,LOTS of blocking,,, heres two pics from today...one in the morning and one when i finished up for the day,,,,,trying like hell to have this thing ready enough for lead east,,,won't be finished,,but hope to bring it anyway,,,,
The best part is the BLOCKING ! It is hard work, but it means you are close to the final results - the paint job. I read once where a shop blocked out the final primer coat, then let the car set for 3 months. This curing time made the primer, putty, bondo, or lead settle down. Shoot on some more primer and block lightly again. This way when the car gets a dark colored paint job, it look stinken straight. I love the sight of the trace paint all vanishing from the primer during the blocking process.
That looks like you have been putting some time into it. I haven't been on here long, so I haven't seen the orignal pics of it. Do you have any that you can add to this post to let us see where it all began? Or if you just have a link to the pics, that will work too. But that car looks great and it is sure to turn some heads when you pull it into a show. Cheers,
It's lookin good, I followed progress on this and even if you are eating cheeto's and other suff, you still have time to get some good pics, cool!
i havent really done anything,,,deliberately wasting your time,,i decided to recreate my car as it appeared back in feb,,,,so i removed all the bondo ive applied since then until it looked just like the picture from back in feb,, what im REALLY working on is a clone of the scooby doo mobile
looks so good . i have been watching the progress on this one . i love it . what is the green epoxy primer you had on there ? was it HOK ? ..... again it looks great .
hate to say it jim but looking at the latest pictures I think you need to round the rear corner of the door. looking really good
slag,,,i agree 100 %..........meant to do it,,but got too far along when i remembered ,,,,,i will still do it at some point,,there's not a square angle on the entire car except for that spot and it really bothers me,,,,was kinda hoping others didnt notice it

You're unbelievable Jim, that Caddy is looking sick! Hey whats the rubber pad on the ground for, you'd think by now the calluses on our knees would match the ones on your hands! haha Are you sick of blocking yet? I shouldn't even think about laughing, it's going to be a busy winter for this guy! It's really looking good, keep the updates coming.
