I have a 50 chevy, converting to 12v. I bought a gm 1 wire alternator, but am having trouble finding what to do with the connections from it to the voltage regulator, or if I need to keep the regulator at all. I've tried searching these questions with no luck. Any help would be great.

run one wire to the battery, tape off the factory regulator wires in case you wanna return to stock, or pull it all out, you will never need it again.

thanks for the help to all, Can I still run directly to my charging guage or do I need to step back down to 6volts?

  6. what does a `50 chevy have to indicate charge?

if it's an amp gauge nothing needs to be done....if it's a volt gauge 12 volts may peg the needle. keep in mind some gauges that look like volt gauges are actual amps

if it has an indicator light...it will not work with a 1 wire alternator

You mean the battery side of your starter solenoid...the regulator is internal .
