I was holding little Zaibree and her mom was in the shower, and I couldnt get her to stop screaming. I was trying everything I could thiink of. Then I started singing to her. She quieted down, but I only knew a couple of verses to that mockng birs song, and rock-a-by baby gets old quick so I started singing different words in the Mocking bird song, here is what I came up with. She loves it though!

(mind you i was not drunk)

Hush little baby dont say a word,
daddys gonna buy you a Model A Ford.
And if that flathead banger dont do it,
Daddys gonna build you a Nailhead Buick.
And if that Nailhead dont scream right,
Daddys gonna hop it up every night.

Now I know every mayhave alot of gay comments but keep in mind I have two twin boys that I dont get to see all that much and my little three week old daughter. I'm proud to say this song got her to quiet down and go to sleep.

  8. Sometimes you gotta improvise. What's that commercial say, it takes a man to be a dad? Sounds like you've got a handle on it.

Every man deserves to have a daughter of his very own...........that way he knows how the fathers of his past girlfriends feel.:D

My dad used to sing songs to me too. INFACT he still does and when he doesn't, I sing them to myself when I'm doing something I know he should be there for.......like putting new bearings on the car.

    I love it.:D

I have four daughters 15, 17, 21, and 22, a grandaughter and a new grandson. When all those girls get together it is estrogen central around the house. I invent hobbies when they all come around. All girls is what I get for the things I did in my younger years. My granddaughter is a huge garage rat!!!!!!

When my little 6 month old niece gets cranky, I make engine noises or get on the computer and look up a Hot rod video with a loud engine and the little fart is all grins laughs and giggles when that comes on, same way with my loud pickup, smiles every time she hears it, I think it's just the noise, but I get a kick out of it anyway.

Enjoy the Wimp stage, boys. When they hit dating age, you become a Gorilla!! Nobody's good enough for Daddy's Girl. Experience talking here.

PS, the best thing after they grow all up is when they get a fella that Dad approves of. I'm a lucky guy in that respect.

I was totally wrapped around my little girls finger the day she was born. It's 27 years later and nothing has changed.

and they don't care what the words are at that age as long as they are soft and gentle you could sing them the phone book as long as daddys loving them it doesn't matter.Sounds like your already being a great dad to me congrats

i was collocky when i was born (81) and my dad used to sing me amazing grace to me...he couldn't remember all the word so he made up his own.

he sang them over and over. Two verse of the real song and the rest was his.

I love that song to this day ( especially played on the bagpipes)...but his version has been sung at 2 funerals i think...

i love your mockingbird version....hopefully people still sing it 25-30 years from now...

    ill always think of it...

  26. Living parallel lives...I have twin 6 year old boys and a 2 1/2 year old daughter, Gianna, (the snakebite girl...doing awesome by the way) and she just melts my heart...she looks you straight in the eyes and doesn't blink and asks for something...anything...and I fall all over myself getting it for her...the killer thing is she loves cars so I know we are not only gonna be father-daughter but best friends for life...boys are awesome but girls are indescribable

  27. I have a 2 year old daughter and some how drinking imaginary tea and reading story books has become more important than working on my car. I did take her to NW Duece Day and teach her what a "Hot Rod" was. Now every time she sees anything that resembles an early 30's car she shout, HOT ROD! Mom loves it.

I have 2-year-old twin girls. I can't wait until they bring boys over someday. I'll have to make it a point to "happen" to be cleaning some guns and looking at 'em funny during their visit. :)

Oh, and Prom night... I have a great start to a collection of embarrasing pictures to go into a "special" album to show her date while he waits. Heh heh heh...

Man...when my son was that little...I was the ONLY one who could pick him up and him not get raging MAD. I went nuts when his momma left, but got custody of him when he was 14 months old, he's been with me ever since. He's 14 years old now, and I miss the times when he was just learning to walk and stuff...

I don't have a daughter of my own, but was close to adopting a former g/f's lil one...when no one else could get her to sleep, I'd sit in the rocker holding her and sing....Elvis songs....it's the only thing that would work. T'was hard seeing them go too...but it was for the best.

If anyone gives you any shit about takin' care of your kids, they need smacked up. That stuff is precious, man...cherish it while ya can...

HAHAHAHA! I dated a girl once whose dad was a former marine drill sgt...he was doing that when we got home, after that, he couldn't keep me out of his reloading station...we were friends long after his daughter and I parted ways...

I always wanted to do the same thing though, LOL!
