So I got invited to go to Speedweek by Lucky Burton, and hang out with him, Bobby Green and Coop. Let's just say it won't be my last visit to Mecca. I can't even explain how much fun I had, and all the great people I had the pleasure of meeting. Several, who I never thought I would............due to the distance between.

Here are some pics I snapped. I'm sure some will be in a Church issue after the one I'm currently working on.

I totally kicked the green coupes ass while riding a girls bike ringing the bell to add insult to injury.

The heroes of the weekend. Old Crow was the hands down the coolest car running on the premesis. I say running, because the Beatty Tank was in their pit the whole weekend (all the way from Boston). They fired it a few times and it sounds mighty pissed off. Hopefully it finds a good home when it sells next week at Pebble Beach. The owner said it ran 211mph in 1955 with a blown flathead. The record still stands!!!!!!!!!!!! It last ran with a blown olds 303 destroked to 260c.i. (in the high 260 mph range). Insane. That's what it has in it now. You have to see the 10 belts running the blower to believe it.

All hail papa bear. The beatty Tank.

So I asked the guy with the blown ardun powered modified if I could push it back about 20 feet to snap some pics. He said no..................then he threw me his keys and said to make sure it was in neutral when I fired it up. How rad is that? Sadly, when you get a car in a good spot to shoot, people flock to it like flies on shit. They know you are snapping photos but really care. I think I got 5 or 6 good ones before quitting.

While sitting here in the room in Vail I'm thinking I never got my ass handed to me by a guy on a girls bike ringing a bell...Well then Johnny Sparkle says OH that was me driving your car around when that happened.

Looks like I'm going to have to take the black marker to the inside of his ears while he's sleeping for being such a wuss!

    Great pics.

Black markers to Sparkles ears may not be enough. Peraps you could gag him with that shirt he was.........well....................I don't even know what you call that particular violation.

Sweet ride. That was the first car I snapped pics of on Friday. After that, I knew it was gonna be a great weekend. I'm sure 2 or 3 photos will appear in Church (probably issue 4).

  19. Coby,

Awesome as always, look forward to seeing them in print.

    Cheers,

You know I could have beaten you, but I missed second gear and I didn't get a good launch. I want a rematch.

I should have ran over your girly-bike-riding ass when you rang that bell. Jerk.

Those old guys were totally going to buy a shirt from me. They loved the flossing. Oh yeah.

    With Love,

    Johnny Sparkle.

Coby- Great hanging out with you as well. Never thought it would happen. Glad it has.

Coop- You rule. Wish i could buy all your stuff, but I'm poor.

I also got to meet a few people I never thought I would. Hung out with Steve Coonan and we chatted for about an hour. I learned alot. Met up with Lance from Speed and Chrome by chance at the hotel. That was cool. The whole weekend was way too much info to process. I will go back.

  29. What can I say, but... best. photos. ever.

Coby, you are a total ruler indeed. Glad I finally got a chance to meet you this weekend. Though I gotta say with you and all those other rulers in the Old Crow tent, I felt like a pair of velcro shoes on a tuxedo.

    Cheers
