I highly reccomend seeing the Stray Cats in concert if you can. Went last night to Red Rocks in Denver to see them, the Pretenders and ZZ Top and without question, Setzer and the boys were the best. He plays a mean guitar. Well worth the $90

I saw them in Baltimore , 13th row floor seats, got them from the presale on briansetzer.com. They really were fantastic, better performace than I expected, but mainly played their most popular songs, none of the obscure stuff. I didnt stay for ZZ top, gave our tickets to a couple in the worst seats in the house, and (hopefully) made their night.

That's too funny. we did the same thing and got second row seats, including giving our tickets away. great minds think alike I guess. I wonder if we saw each other. Their set was way too short for my liking but that's what happens when there are a lot of bands on the bill.

I wanted to go but thought I was going to be in KS, freaking drilling rig kept breaking down so here I am still in town. I was on the road when the concert went on, heading back this way.....

The Cats set was way too short. As far as I'm concerned, they should have been the headliner. We left about 15 minutes into ZZ Top.

Really wished I coulda seen that show!! Back in the 80's I had all thier stuff (and still do). My ol man thought it was cool that I liked em but all the kids my age just didn't get it. LOL

When he came out with his big band stuff I was floating on the USS Saratoga and all the guys in my shop thought I was outa my mind. Some people just refuse to recognize incredible talent.

Saw him in concert during the Va-Voom tour and was totally blown away!! What a show!! Still listen to his stuff all the time too.

A good friend had two extra tix, so the honey and I saw the show in Detroit. Wow, that guy was playing the strings off the guitar! Looks like they lost nothing since thier 80s heyday!

The Pretenders were good. I like most of their stuff. Chrissie has more balls than some guys I know. ZZ Top was okay, but a little too synthetic-sounding for me. I dig their earlier stuff when they were raw.

I've been a fan since they first came out and I'll finally be going to see them this weekend in O.C. with Stevie Nicks, The Pretenders, Sugar Ray and ZZ Top.

The "BSO" is coming to the Fillmore in Denver on 12-11-07. That should be a great show too.

I realized a life long dream when we got to see the Stray Cats in Kansas City last month 7/31. Never thought I would see them all together again. Have seen Lee Rocker a few times on his own, but seeing all 3 together was unreal. Brian Setzer is a true showman and his vocals are as good if not better than when they were recording 15 years ago. To make it even better they played at the Uptown Theater, an old restored theater downtown and our friends the Rumble Jetts opened for them. $100 for 2nd row seats, well spent !!! Can't wait to see them again. Gary

Yeah, I saw them in Detroit (well, Troy, but who has ever heard of Troy). Great show, greatest hits. I wish they could have played longer.

Wasn't Troy the home of AMT? I seem to remember that on all the model car boxes when I was growing up in the 60s.

  21. Stray Cats are great, but a lot of rockabilly folks especially in their earlier days were pissed at them for not giving credit to the music they borrowed from Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent.

Anyone seen any of Billy G's hot rods lately?

Well, I dont know if thats fair. If you look at rackabilly (I mean real, original rockabily, not the "kulture", not the new silly-billy, but the history of early rock and roll), there is a lot of borrowing and covering of songs. It was very common place, take Blue Suede Shoes for example, Perkins may have written it, but there were many recordings of the song from at least 5-6 top names in early rock and roll.

The 'cats even went as far to pay tribute to Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran through a song, so I dont see how anyone could say they didnt give the original creators of the music credit. And most early rockabilly singers were bad writers, look at the credits to who wrote many of the early hits, in most cases it was not the singer that was famouse for singing the song, most of the writers names wont even sound framiliar. Johnny Burnette, (early, non pop years) Buddy Holly, etc were exceptions to the rule.

    Saw the tour in Vegas.

Stray Kats absolutely rocked, they do play the **** out of their instruments.

Chrissie was ok, her vocal mix wasn't very good.

    ZZTop was excellent as well.

Kats were my fav and I'm not a rockabilly guy at all.

The K. C. show was ***ume, The Rumblejetts opened up with a rip-roarin show, even dedicated a song to thier Omaha friends that came to see them. I had never seen the Cats together, lucky to see them all in thier solo bands that are all fantastic. They blew the lid of the beautiful Uptown Theater in K.C. A super hi-energy show by all 3 of em. It was tough, The Mezcal Brothers and The Blasters were in Omaha same night. Thank God I had seen the Fab. Blasters at Lone Star Roundup in 06, and the Mezcal Bros. are tearin it up at our Roadburners show in Beatrice, Ne. on the 8th of Sept. The stage set for the Cats was especially coool!-Sololobo/Roadburners of Omaha!!

  27. went to the setzer christmas show last year and have my tickets for this years show in glenside pa. it's great because they play small theaters with the dance orchestra. don't know how he moves that whole group around and keeps ticket prices reasonable. if your not a fan of the holiday music, he usually rips thru a 3 piece rockabilly set. i don't know how people feel about him as a musician, but he's done a lot to further the hot rod kulture

I was second row center 11 & 12 where were your seats?? I was wishing that the Rumblejetts would have played again after the Cats left the stage.
It was hard just to hear the jetts play for only 30 minutes. The Rumblejetts last song was way too kool. I think it is an old Link Wray tune. Jim tore it up!!! I hope one of these days they will record it.

ZZ Top and Reverend Horton heat and the Brady theater in Tulsa. It was an awesome show and ZZ played alot of their old Blues songs. I wish Billy would go back to his Roots. He can cry out with the best of them with that Blues guitar. I was introduced to Revenend Horton Heat that night. I was shocked to hear The Rev. rip through his cords.

    Happy Trails,

Mick, we were second row on the right side, first 6 seats off the isle.( The Omaha crowd ) Love those Rumble Jetts. I thought it was so cool they were asked to play. I guess Jim talks with Setzer quite a bit on the Gretsch internet site, so they were the first band asked to open. I know they were excited. Wish I'd known you were there would have liked to meet ya. Setzer & the Stray cats are awesome, but for all of you that are walking out or giving away your ZZtop tickets I say you are f**king nuts!!! Billy Gibbons is the man and can rip it up with the best of them I agree he should go back to his roots more often, but how are you going to know if he did, if you left? Please pm me if you have any ZZ tickets you want to give away!
