I needed to see what this thing really looked like. It has been about a year since I started and have never seen it out of the garage. I am redoing a bunch of stuff. It needs a new front spring and a few other things too. But after seeing it out of the garage, I have to say it looks pretty cool! Well at least I think so, and some people were walking by, and they had to come up an look at it. I actually got a lot of compliments. Made me feel pretty good I need a bumper I think... It looks too plain...
I need a bumper I think... It looks too plain... What ya need is a REAL internationl bed with a tailgate... and the rest of the stock sheetmetal... fenders, hood, grill, etc.................
Nah... It's not like I can haul anything anyway. And I don't care for the factory fenders. I like the bed I built. I think I will build a bumper and be happy.
Rollpan 2" Tubing Sheetmetal stamping (or creative airbrushing to give the same effect) Hope this gives ya some ideas...
I love the roll pan idea, but I really have no way to roll the metal That is why I did the angled bit... I wanted something but this is all I could come up with. I also really like the bumper idea, I can build that Actually, that is what I was thinking or flat bar with the ends rolled in like the 30's bumpers I have seen on other Internationals. Stamping that might be tough as it is 16G steel. It was a bugger to bend without a brake, I had to make relief cuts then make the bends using clamps and angle iron on a work bench. Good thing my brother is a big guy.
You can use a pole or a tree to roll the sheetmetal for a rollpan .......... Also, if you could find an International tailgate (any year) and just cut out the center with the letters and weld it in the back of your bed.....that would break things up a bit and look pretty good too.......
Oh heck, I don't care what he says. It's my first, and I am pretty proud of it. Yeah I've made some mistakes but that will happen, and I am learning as I go. Before my truck here, I had shoehorned a V8 into a 85' Mazda RX7, Turbocharged a 97' Hyundai Accent, rebuilt a 71' Camaro from the subrames up all new (it ran 11's on motor alone), Built a 72' lemans Sport with a stroked Pontiac 350 using a 400 crank (easy, same size journals on all Pontiacs) Built up several 5.0 Mustangs all that sass. But never a hot rod like this where I built it all myself. I usually had a complete vehicle to start with. This time I had a cab and a pile of parts an metal. If some snooty to good for me wants to call my truck a rat rod then fine. But you know what? It's my Rat Rod and he doesn't have to like it or drive it. Not to mention if I have barely $3000 into this thing all said and done I'll be lucky. Not to mention I have my 26T Roadster waiting in the wings. So when I am done making all my mistakes and learning from this project, I will make that into something really nice. Here are some daylight pics I took today. Yep, I know I need a new front spring...
Don't get butt sore. These guys gave you some really great ideas!!! All you mentioned was the guys/facts that pissed you off when you should be thanking the guys that took the time to photoshop etc. Lighten up.
Huh? My butt's not sore... And I did thank the guys that gave me ideas. I DO really appreciate it. Sometimes I'm just a little long winded... By the way thanks!
