No,unlike a chevy there is no rod,so it's find to just put a block off,by the way a Chevy chrome or the alum block off's fit for some extra shine I think on a Ford Y-block too! Not the long one but the short one.

hahaha... soon enough, Rob will be racking up miles on that cool ride he's building.

Rob, if you don't already have an electric pump, Otis just bought one that shuts off at 7 psi (I think) - eliminating the need for a pressure regulator. Are you thinking about doing something like that or running a regulator? I guess it might depend on the carb you are using....

I certainly don't claim to know a whole lot about this, just learning from other's experiences.

Balls to be different. If it were a small block chevy it wouldn't be a hot rod Lincoln. The Y in guestion is a 55 Lincoln and the car is an expression in creative hotrodding.Robs posts get ignored or hammered but if you were at the drag races at the KKOA show you saw his chevy truck kickking some ***.Turds get it done.

If you are sure it is a fuel pump pushrod, and you do not want to dismantle the engine to remove it,here is something you could try.

Slip a larger , tubular object over the pushrod,( a socket,on an extension for leverage ),and slightly bend the pushrod,in increments, until it will clear the fuel pump mounting boss recess.

It should be malleable enough to do this,IF as stated, you do it in stages.

If it breaks on 'ya,you 'prolly bent it too much at one go.

Count how many times you broke it,and count the pieces when you are done!

The fuel pump push rod on a Lincoln Y is a solid piece of steel, no bending it. But, unlike a chevy, it has a snap ring on it that keeps it from coming down or falling out. Your going to have to pull the front cover if you want that rod out of there, or run the electric and byp*** the manual pump. That pump is also the vacuem pump for the wipers if your still running it in the car. Good luck, Mike.

Hey thanks for the reply, the only reason I need to get rid of the pump is that it's in the way of the steering box i'm mounting on the A style frame.I would think the rod has slipped down as far as it's gonna and no longer rides on cam lobe , and can't hurt anything leaving it in there? When I get ready to clean & paint the motor I'll probaly take the cover off and remove the rod .Need to check the avialibility of gaskets before all that happens. Later Rob
