Hi. Still tryin to find out what a REASONABLE price would be for a 38 (60 HP) Ford flathead would be. Block-head- & trans. are there. Am selling Dad's estate for my Mom. Dad thought some other parts are there (oil pump, pan etc.) but not sure I'd know them when I saw em. Also have intake w/twin carbs for about a 50 model and an in dash clock for a 37 Ford. Don't want to ream anybody on it but don't want local dealer to get it for the 300 he offered for all of it. Is he out of line? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks! Uglymailman

I bought a complete 60hp engine and transmission that turns over for 150.00. That was a very good buy. Is yours a tin sided block? What other parts is involved in the deal?

A running flat head can go for up to $2,000. The twin carb manifold is $100. to $200. To rebuild a flat head it cost $2,000. in parts. If you have exhaust manifolds they are $50. to $100.

We're talking 37-39 V8-60 here with tinsides most likely. Only the 40 blocks had full cast blocks and are the most desireable of the bunch..
I'd say $100+ for the 37 clock if it's nice.
$150 for the V8-60 and parts.
$150+ for the 2 carb manifold depending on the brand name, be careful here, some are really big bucks! Do the research.

A good, non-stuck, Stromberg 97 carb is worth $100 by itself.

A V8-60 that turns over and looks clean under the heads (no visible cracks) is probably worth a couple hundred.

You say this engine was in a stock car, or a stockcar? Does it have finned aluminum heads? If so, and they aren't corroded, even the common brands are worth a few hundred. A rarer pair of finned heads is worth upwards of $500 in nice shape.

What kind of ignition is on this?

This may be a stupid question, but I am guessing the $50 exhaust manifolds are of the V8-60 variety. I wish I could get that for a regular flatty manifold. I have a pile of them.
