Power Brakes

    can someone tell me what id wrong with my brake sysyem.I have a 55 lincoln that was a power brake system,I took the old system off and replaced it with a power booster and newer master cylnder.I also replaced all wheel cylinders.Problem i have is the brake pedal is hard as a rock and does not stop the car.I also have 19lbs of va***e.Any sugestions???????????

    sounds like the booster is not workin, and check your brake hoses if there old they can swell shut.
     
  3. Yep, booster not working. Im about to do the same conv.
    Show me some pics of your car.....please, I also have a 55.

    I had a similar problem with my 59 buick. I checked everything and had replaced all brake parts. It was the new booster that was bad. Replace it. drove me nuts for a couple of weeks. TP

    Bad booster
    Misadjusted brake rod - booster to m/c
    M/C too big - wheel cylinders too small
    combination valve - "tripped"
    pedal ratio wrong

    Add backwards vacuum check valve to that list

    Hey human fly pm me at rmebben@aol.com.Ill send ya some pics,just got it back from paint.The top has benn lowerd 5 in with a custom rolled back to cover the raparound rear window
