Here are a few of my photos from this last weekend. A lot of my pics are of the same cars as everyone else's. Here are a few of different ones, I hope. Sorry if there are any duplicates. Steve
He was there...met him at the motel 6 on Friday. The 5 window looked like it picked up plenty of salt. Chris
Here are a couple more. Sorry, I only took three, and they aren't very good. With all the people taking photos of the car this past Saturday on the salt, I'm sure someone else has some more good photos of the car. A good friend of my brother's own's the car. It's really bitchin. It was built in the mid 50's for the Mexican/American roadrace. Then the race got cancelled before the car was completed so the guy who was building it parked it. It has been sitting since then. I think that's the story anyway. If you want more accurate details, let me know. Steve
Anyone know what Lee Sicilio's car/s ran. That dude is really cool and makes me want to go racing on the salt one day.
I too recognized the pic of his Charger. He holds a record with it. Lee is one of the nicest guys around. He sure is addicted to the salt! Anyone know if he had both cars there? Tim @ www.irrationalmetalworks.com
Just curious about the trailer in the background, what the hell was Boyd Coddington doing there? Billet aluminum and salt don't mix!
Not that I talked to him nor did anyone I know but from our best guesses it would appear that his wife wanted to run a car. They had a helicopter there too swooping over the pits and people constantly. I heard that his wife made a run, slowed to a stop ON THE TRACK got out, waited for the helicopter to be there then did a happy dance for the camera. I know that didn't go over well with the racers or starting line crowd. He pissed me off too. I was pretty far out on the 'unused' salt with the mountains in the background taking some pics for my Christmas cards. His crew pulled in right behind me and the roadster completely screwing up the shots. So I pulled behind them to finish the few I had left. Then some SCTA guy came up and said that Boyd had a "permit" to be there for filming and I didn't so move. I explained I would only be a taking a few more pics he be gone but he wasn't too happy. What a bunch of crap.
as far as Coddington goes, yeah, they were there all weekend. someone said they were filming for their TV show? i don't know if they raced or not. That car is the "Murray Brothers Special" and was definitely one of my favorites on the salt. It was too bad it had Boyd's trailer (or any trailer for that matter) for the background. Any body know anything about the "Murray Brothers Special"??? Thanks, Steve
They were filming for his little tv show. Mrs Coddington raced. Wait till you hear about the run-in that we had with his "crew". Day 10 I believe.
Thye Murray car that I know is a '27 T modified roadster running in V4/MR and V4F/MR. Very nice and fast with a model B motor. I saw the Boyd truck in the pits but chose to stay away from all that. They had a catered feed for all comers on Wendsday. Missed that also.
What I can't believe is that nobody is talking about how Boyd, or his crew, got his RV stuck on the side of the 2nd course. Three tow trucks got stuck trying to pull them out on Thurs, and I heard it took 2 more to get the job done on Fri. We have some pics of the disaster, which I'll try to post later. I talked to an old time racer & he said their car was a pile. It was a zoo when she was at the start line, camera crews & looky-loos. Matt
Ok, this makes more sense now. That fucking helicopter was all over when I was trying to take pictures of my Galaxie out on the salt just off the main pit road. I pulled pretty far off and still had to wait for the damn thing to get out of the shot several times.
bava, Thanks for the cool photo's, its nice to view these photo's for those who didn't make it to the salt. Cruiser
great....just great.....boyd is gonna fuck up the magic of the salt before i ever get a chance to get out there and expereince it for myslef
I don't know if he'll fuck it up,but he will definately smelly it up a bit... "Bad taste has no boundries"
