I have what I am sure is a Lincoln v12 distributor that was in a box of V8 stuff I was moving from the farm. I posted it in the cl***ifieds and a fellow HAMBer said the top holes were different than his. After looking at a couple of pictures on ebay, mine is different. This peaked my curiosity so I started looking for info on the www and came up empty. Pic included. The difference is the top holes on mine are equally spaced where on the pictures I have found the two nearest the block are closer together. Any help? GV
the distributor I have measures 2 1/2" hole to hole on the two holes closest to the block and 3 3/4" to the front hole from either of the back two. I have two v12s don't know what year but the numbers on the blocks near where the trani mounts are 56H A31622 A237 B2 and 56H A31622 L127 B2 Any idea where I can find out the year? Thanks Frank
Yep--'33-6 V8. LZ distributor has same mounting flange (this did not go unappreciated by early rodders...), LZ has bigger everything else, coil flange differs from any Ford, though one of the many different recipes for dual coil flatheads used an LZ coil on an adaptor on a /37-41 distributor with some Lincoln innards.
That's a neat piece Elrod. Converting the Ford distributor to hold the V12 coil and rotor is much rarer than converting the V12 distributor to fire only 8 plugs. The magazine article you show is the usual way they were done. At least that's what we usually find still surviving.
