  1. Ethanol, I like internal combustion too much to switch

    68.3%
  2. Diesel, possibly with an SVO ("Greasecar") conversion

    8.4%
  3. Electric, it's just as traditional as gasoline

    17.8%
  4. Nothing, if gasoline goes, I'll take up fishing

    5.4%

Hell, I just wanted to talk about alternative fuels, not the Big Oil Conspiracy (TM).

I don't really think gasoline is going away, I just like the idea of not using it.

Oh well, back to googling people that put electric engines in their Saturns.

Bigcheesee327 I think you meant to say "When" cause gas is will become extinct soon enough. Ethanol or some other combustable will be next. I think about it all the time and realize that all these cars on the road have to use a burnable liquid. I bought a Hybrid truck to do my part so it's not on me when we run out.

Get an eletric that can fit in the trans tunnel, and run hoodless. People would flip when they saw the thing driving down the road without an engine, and the neighbors couldn't get away with calling it an abandoned vehicle. Talk about super jalopy...

Oh and if you think that eletrics can't deliver the speed you need google the Tesla roadster.

Speed Yes, range, No. Any of the vehicles I want to electrify all would have a range of about 30-40 miles (running gear wouldn't stand up to much more weight). That kinda ****s when it's 45 miles to the nearest town that has 'events' other than your own.

Propane or Natural Gas is a fine alternative with somewhat better range than electric (200 ish max if I don't want to look like an Amerigas dealer). As it is primarily Methane (with stinkum and whatever else your state allows blended in) it could be done at least partially renewable.

These two are a continent and two oceans apart but I like their Ideas. If things get really bad I think I'd consider the french version for conversion of my Oldsmobile.
