I picked up this 51 Chieftain from murdercycles back in May. After a month of dealing with a transport company it finally arrived. Yes, I bought it sight unseen. Yes, it was what I expected, thankfully! I drove it around for while waiting for my parts to arrive. New suspension; Fatman dropped uprights, front disc brakes, Jamco springs front and back. Thanks to Gordini for dropping this beast. Here it is as it looked when it arrived in CA. And here's how it looks today. Next mods are a 350 sbc, turbo 350 and new rear end. This winter hope to get it chopped and build a custom grill. Here's my inspiration... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=196057
Yeah, I had a set on. I had to change my wheels with the disc brakes and they're short 1/2" to clear the hub caps. I hope to resolve that soon. Thanks -R
Very nice attitudor, got any more pictures??? What have you done to it? I picked up a 54 recently and I'm thinking it could down an inch or so.
Wow, that brings back memories. My four door looked pretty much the same. I even ran Caddy caps for a while. Looks good!! and near put a tear in my eye.

Reliability and driveability. My straight 8 is gutless and a oil burner. My hydromatic, drives me nuts. 4 speed good idea, the gear ratios, wacked.
Sorry no more photos, not my car. It was chopped, slammed and primered, that's pretty much all I know. --mika
331 Cad front mount fits the 6 cylinder Pontiac mount holes ... put a Cad & a Dual Range in it ... I wouldn't be surprised if the hoses hooked up.
Is this something you've done before?? I have a straight 8 in mine but I woulnt mind replacing it down the track...
I LOVE those old indians! My first hot rod was a 53 Pont. Those were the good ole days....lol Keep up the good work,I cant wait to see what you do with it! EVIL
My Poncho's in the weeds also. the weeds are taller than the car I need to move it again so I can mow!
Rodger, Nice to see the love you put into Ol Chief. Looks great lowered. I am glad those transport chumps finally delivered. What a stroke job they gave you. Keep us updated, Ray in CT
63necker, Cool buy!!!!!!!! I leaned to drive in a '49 Pontiac the same color as yours. You lucked out and received a very nice ride and not a rust bucket and lies. Oh, Please put some skirts on the ride............ Cruiser
Don't know what else you could do to that car to make it any more "killer" other than the skirts. I drove my staright eight thousands of miles for 3 years before it gave up the ghost. Your car is great ...wish I had one like it!!! 48 Poncho
