Car is starting to come together. Painted the panels friday. My first spray-gun paint job ever. Neigbour gave me a new in box gun he got at a yard sale so i had no excuse. Paint was Duplicolor premixed blue metalic and a Campbellhausfeld cheap gun. No runs, not perfect but better than i would have thought. I am happy. My hat is off to Duplcolor for making painting do-able thing for non-painters like me. I will post paint photo later. This was taken the day before paint after i got the panels fitted. Don
Very CooooooooooooL, went to your web site and enjoyed the build pics, SBE (simple but effective) is what I'd call it. wish you were here in the lower 48 !!!! love to see the car in person...
I live about one and a half hours from Luskville I'm building a six cylinder altered for next spring how often do you race ?
Ah one of my old posts. I have been running the car for several years. It has been in 4 magazines and on TV more times then I can remember (Gearz) And all I wanted was a car to try my snowmobile carbs on. Well been there, done that. Now I have a single four and a custom made cam and super ported head etc etc. Trans is now autoshift with a govenor kit and adjustable from 5000 to 6000 rpm approx. Converter is now a Frank Lupo 4700 stall 8 inch. How often do I race? 4 times per year. Mostly at Picton but occcasionally at Shannonville. I used to go for the ONDR races but I have been banned from running with them. Mostly I just go to the test and tunes. I have been racing at drag strips since 1966 but this little hobby car in the twilight of my career has been by far the most fun I ever had. I just wish there were more 6 cylinder cars. I can run with the V8s but I need them to mess up to win. Luckily so far they hae been most cooperative but lately they have figured out that they need to come prepared or they will be humiliated by a slant six rail so short the old guy carrys it in the back of his pick up. Lots of video of it running on You tube. Just look for Sr Dragster or Picton Airfield May 19 The Jeep. That was a fun project but it was sold near the end of construction. I built it because I wanted to see what a Jeep bucket altered would look like compared to a T bucket altered. It turned out quite good but I dont own it anymore. Currently I am rubbing on the slant six rail at any oppourtuinity I think will raise its performance. Sometimes I wobble for a minute till I get things where I want. That goes wth the territory and I am ok with that. I am also building a new rail , a 318 Poly. No big rush. Just something to do rather then watch Jepordy Don.

Very cool. How did you make the big radius on the hoop? Oh yeah I forgot to answer that. I have a severely injured ribcage. Badly broken with pulled Costal joints. It will never heal and I find it hard getting in and out so I needed a lot of room. I am also 300 lbs and 29 inches at the shoulders. I made the cardboard patterns and took them to Bobs Performance aka Vega Bob. He bent them exactly to my patterns. They are a bit big and if I wasnt driving I would replace them with something more conventional. Don Re Spindle mounts. Yes they would look great but I cannot afford such luxuries. I have to date spent $3500 including spare set of slicks. My hot rod budget is around $100 per month and does not include the months of my wifes birthday or our anniversary. Don

Bring the jeep back. Thanks for the request. The Jeep is stored at my friend Mikes place. It is owned by Vern C . Mike takes it to the big car shows occasionally. This year at the Ameliasburgh Street Meet as it is known it won a trophy for Mike . I think it was best Sunday Runner (Drag car = Sunday runner there) because he entered it in his name he won. I was pleased though since I built it and just carry that little tidbit around in my head which occasionally gives me a wee smile. We would have told Vern but neither of us has seen him since last Nov. We know he is still breathing because friends have seen him at the ProMod races (Starter)and he occasionally forwards some info. He will come around again when he is ready. Been friends along time. (44 years)That is just Vern. He is obviously very busy. Don
