I think the fine print, is something like 6 months later they might pay the insurance on lost items. I always insure stuff for 4 times what its worth. That pays for the aggravation in waiting.

  3. Have you filed a claim on it?

everything has a tracking number. did they just tell you it is lost? or you decided because you dont have it yet?, the shipper gets the box picked up and scanned, it gets scanned all the time, what is the last scan that it disapears from?, i have found they will get it square with you, if it left the busines and was lost, i have been inshipping for 25 yrs , you just need to get the right information, when you bought it and it shiped did they email you a tracing number, you can check it online, just go trough the motions i am sure they will find it or square it up with you

  5. Were you selling, or buying? The shipper is the only one who can make a claim....& in my case he did so, was promptly reimbursed by FedEx, & then refused to send me the money. eBay strikes again.

If FedEx can verify that the package was in their system, & has been lost, they are good about making it right....

I shipped a trans about a year ago to a dude in NJ. Insured it for what it would cost to replace it, made sure to describe it completely on the paperwork. got home, emailed the dude the tracking number and tracked it myself to the point it disappeared somewhere in NJ at a depot. Called fedex, faxed them my copies of the invoice and reciept and had a check for 1400.00 about 10 days later. BUT, I will only ship with fedex, there isnt enough free hard drive space on here for my UPS horror stories. This is my only FEDEX story in 5 years......for what its worth.

A place called unclaimed freight// baggage.. in Scotsboro alabama buys all unclaimed baggage and freight that is lost or misplaced on airline.. The travel chanell did a special on them a while back.. Mostly clothes jewelery and the usual baggage shit.. But I have seen stuffed bears, guns and I have bought race parts, gears and a racing powerglide over the years. I go by every month or so.. So what do I need to look for that you might have lost.. Bobby..

I ship FedEx all the time and they are much better than UPS. Bought a LaSalle trans that got damaged in shipment, partly b/c the guy didn't pack it very well and they paid the full $600 insurance and let me keep the trans on top of it.

i work for FedEx...well at least for 3 more days....but anyway, Yes, only the shipper can file a claim for a lost package. It has to be done through 1-800-GO-FEDEX. As soon as the "Press some shit for this area" thing picks up, Press 0 to get a live person to talk to. FedEx is very good about resolving issues when it comes to lost shipments and damaged ones too. Track the shipment and find out the last place it was scanned. This narrows the search and helps us to figure out the next step. Every package gets scanned every time it is moved by a person, machine of courier.
