I am getting closer and closer to finishing up my '27 Roadster. Today I realized that I do not like the color I painted it and before winter comes I want to throw a new color on it. Any suggestions???? I am open to anything. The frame and wheels are a dark Blue and I don't want to have to repaint them. Gloss or Flat? Any suggestions??? Tony

I actually don't mind that color. I also would drop the grille too. Don't do flat go gloss, when your paint starts to look beat up you can take pride in knowing that was a result of actually driving it.

#1 Competition Yellow #2 Baby Blue Any choice should be shiny. Please not flat black, the car deserves better than THAT! One more vote to drop the grill even with the cowl. i really, really like that car.
I'd have to agree the 28-29 Model A sectioned radiator & shell definitely need a little lowering, about 2-3" it looks like. just get the the peak down level with or just lower than the forward edge of the cowl. Color? What you've got is nice, but kinda bland, but to go with those blue wheels you need a nice Robin's Egg Blue with a matching the wheel color stripe accent. Yeah buddy!
You've got the Blue Blazer (frame) and Camel pants (body) thing going on now. It needs some Argyle seat covers to go with that. Or, switch to a gray or silver body with the Blue frame instead of camel/tan and it'd be sweet. I also think the radiator is too high relative to the body but it also looks like the body is channelled more at the cowl than at the rear, so it's raked on the frame, unless it's just camera angle. Dropping the radiator would probably mean a shorter core, right? so maybe you could raise just the front of the body up about an inch or so at the firewall and re-mount/shim it so it's at an angle that flows better with the height of the shell?
I can drop the shell another inch or so (or shim the body). The radiator is already section probably 2-3" already. I know what you mean with the light blue, as a matter of fact, I bought a gallon of light blue to paint the car but once I did one panel I realized that the blue I chose was a little too light. I decided to use the paint for the wife's Vespa. The engineer in me came out with the khaki colored paint (I have to fight those insticts). What I consider "flare" is wearing my ID badge on my collar instead of my belt. The tan is gloss and my intention was to let it wear from use rather than go flat. So right now I have egg blue, red, comp. yellow and silver. Any more?????
The tan's not bad, but it don't "pop" I guess, Hmmmmmmmnn,,,,,,,, I like colors that look like they may have been available,,, like maybe a dark blue, but not liking frames painted to match,,,,, well, it being a dark color maybe no-one would notice, how about black?
What about a dark burgandy. Definately gloss. Neat car- you've heard about the grille shell. The navy is a good choice. I would not do any kind of light blue. Think hard about that. imho
I think a light blue or white would look nice with the dark blue frame. The khaki is a little bland for my liking, i think a robin's egg blue would make pop pretty nice though.
Light gray for the old look, or silver for a newer look and both will look really nice with the blue wheels and frame, and like someone said add some of the blue pinstripes for accents.
sweet t,, i like the color it is now, you definitely need to lower the grille shell if you have to change the color how about 1931 ford balsam green and black wheels http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/acl_files/ford1931.html
I actually really like that color.... My first thought was to go a lighter shade - vanilla shake or so, with the blue pinstriping & lettering. However, I second an "antique" gray with matching blue competition lettering. Kamp
I too agree on the grille. Drop it a bit, but leave the color as is. You could sand it down, just flatten it a bit (800 grit maybe?) and then polish through it at the top of the doors and so, to get a really worn look. The wheels need to be enhanced a bit so I'd suggest a light blue (Baby blue) for those. Be sure to show us what you decide to go with!
