Just thought id say heah and finally post some pics of my hot rod comming together. I just got my front bumper brackets built and flipped the front bumper and shortned the filler pan and will be smoothing it soon but moved the bumpers closer to the body for a cleaner look and flipped them. also finished welding up dash and getting close to getting body back off frame!
Me and pop found that the rear bumpers look good with out the point on the ends, we're going to round his a little more. Looks great, love the dash!!
Thanks I did the same with my rears aswell, they just looked upside down to me orginally for some reason and i did taper my bumper ends a good bit to fit the body lines better. Love to see some photos of your ride! These shots will show you the pencil line of the orginal and how much i removed!
Gotta love those swoopy bodylines, ever since I started building my 50 Pontiac Fleetleader... I see more and more of our bodystyle showing up... Looks killer.. !
I like the rear bumper.. but t******* my perfect bumper pans would hurt my feelings.. is that a 57 truck dash cluster? its funny.. I am currently running a very similar steering wheel.. gonna need to do a post on the cars progress soon.. sawzall
Pro 48 fleetline, Your ride is looking very cool, the fleetline is a great body style. I drive a fastback '49 Caddy and love it. What color are you going to paint it when ready. Keep us updated on your progress. Cruiser
Thanks guys this has been a really fun project, and i too love the sweeping *** end and body lines. The car is in mock up yet but making some ground, the car will have an older them and feel to it with alot of smooth mods that have already been done, like the welding of the fenders to the body and hood to fenders the front clip is a tilt and hood will be open at the top like a custom merc. smoothed all the holes trim etc firewaal master cylinder on the frame etc. As for color WOW this has been the million dollar ? i have changed my mind a million times because it is so important really leaning towards a two tone cinnamon and creme top orginal two tone lines the frame will be painted aswell with an extrem amount of detail in the car.plan to show the car and do some track time aswell. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/journal.php?journalid=50465&action=view
Well real quick speaking of the paint decisions, the wheels have been equally as hard to decide, But at the columbus good guys i talked to the guys at billet specialties and they justtt released the new SFI approved racing wheel there first and i just love um the star design will carry over the "V" theme in the car but i changed my mind alot on paint who knows about the wheels but these shloul look pretty *****in 15x4 fronts and 15x14 rears http://www.billetspecialties.com/itemdetail.asp?cid=16&scid=251&pid=940&rdir=1
PLEASE DON'T USE A DIGITAL GAGE CLUSTER FOR THAT DASH. The orignial gauges complete the look of the "V"
LOL no chance of me using digtial anthing in this car! that was the whole idea of using the older gauge i agree anyone can just bolt ina digital im really liking the super simple clean look! and being a graphic Designer im going to print an orginal themed looking gauge speedo with an off white backing to it to match the interior , Glad to see were thinking a like lol
Cool! I think that is one of the huge downfalls of a pro street car is the bland choice of wheels that we had 5 years a go. What there was like 4 different kinds? LOL
lookin good so far. id like to see in the trunk or back seat & see how much room the meats took up. this suggestion may be wrong for this style of car, im not really sure but what about some radirs ?
LOL funny you should mention room ! Room i have trying to figure out away to swallow it all up but i have tought of an older style wheels like an ET dragmaster as cool as the radir wheels are they just dont fit my style but heres a few shots of my space!
Yes Radirs No Billet Specialties. I too like the dash and the steering wheel. Bumper mods look good too. The wheels that are on the car are really awful. Once those are swapped out I think I'd really like this car. Good work so far.
Looking like it's taking shape.!!! Everything works for me except the 60's Blvd cruizer style sunken antenna. It looks out of place on that 1/4. And since the headlights are Frenched, so should the tail lights be. Just my 2¢
....go with painted steelies w/ orig. 48 Fleetline caps n rings. ...would look good w/ the colors you mentioned. ...btw, ...I have my runnin/drivin 48 Fleetline (updated)for sale in case someone is looking (lobucrod?)
Funny thing is i considered the artilalry wheels there making and actually they make them in the sizes i need 15x4 and 15x15 heres how they look might look great ecs if they were chromed with painted centers and a polished wheel lip
I could see that, would probably look good, although I'm not so sure about 4" wide fronts and 15" wide rears.
Thats why its not getting the hoochey low rider orginals This is a pro street 33x19.5's on the rear with a narrowed 9" with a 4 link 4.56 gears and a 406 SB with 6" rods and 210 cc AFR alumin heads big single plain and Demon carb 350 ****** with a vaule body and 3,500 stahl. and looking towards some light weight wheels aswell.
i love the WELD WHEELS(tm),,,,the 'fit in' on this board SO MUCH BETTER than those HOOCHeY LOWRIDER WHEELS,,,,,,GREAT JOB!!!
There not Weld Wheels tm there Billet Specialties! and for the overall look of a pro street a steel wheel is not the route to go. Maybe if your dragging your 4,000 pound 6 banger down the road but with little chrome on the car. It Has to have a nice Chrome/Billet wheel on it.For the style im building, although the car will have older peices through out.
