Vacum advance port on rochester carb

where is the va*** advance port supposed to be on a rochester 2g?

 

right front, port might be threaded, at idle won't have any va*** only at acceleration

 

front meaning the with the fuel inlet facing forward, and if i hook an old advance can to it it will move once i give it some gas, correct?
