****** Hell Jimmy, you've been busy!!! How did you get the bends around the rear section so smooth?? Did you slice them vertically, make the bends then re-weld?? It looks great - are you going to make a track nose for the front? I'd better get my **** in gear and build my T Roadster. Thanks for the inspiration Cheers Bob
You are doing some excellent building there and when your done you'll have a VERY solid ride. Please keep us posted on any further progress. Frank
Hey mate! I was dragging my feet a little then I kinda figured the pixies weren't going to build it for me, so that got me off my **** (I plan to have it rolling by the end of September). I cleaned around it where all the **** had ac***ulated, then got started. I weld up a sturdy ch***is frame thingy, got it square and welded the ch***is to it. At the moment it is sitting 1 1/2" higher in the rear and 2" in the front. The curved pieces were cut at 20mm (11/16" I think) intervals, the cuts were 3mm (1/8") wide & cut through three sides. For the tighter curves I did double cuts. I may build a track nose later on, but I like the whippet shell with the bib better. The radiator will be dropped an inch and moved back 1 1/2", I won't be cutting the radiator down. the radiator will sit between the motor X-member & suicide spring perch. The spring will be mounted like this I have a feature on the Spalding bros. car if interested.
Thanks mate! I am doing everything I can to get it near spot on. Hopefully you wont have wait long I have been spending at least 3hrs a day working on it over the past 2 weeks. Thanks! will do. Thanks mate. I have some stuff to email you too. Cheers Jimmy
Work, work, work Jimmy B. Don't worry about a track nose, if I had a Whippet shell I'd be using it too, they're cool (apart from period right).
ok update Got the front spring mount set up temporary to work out a few things I did this last night, it was the first time I worked on it in a week. Before After I can't wait to get this thing sitting at ride height. Cheers jimmy
looks like you've been working hard. Man, that is some serious progress. I can't wait to see it when it is finished
Good to see some progress Jimmy. Thats going to be one fine ride when finished and will stand out at any run!!!! For all the right reasons.
Thanks Mate! bit by bit. Thank you everyone else for the compliments, it has really cheered me up today. Some panels I bought last year that didn't arrive are conveniently back on ebay, same guy different user id. Cheers Jimmy ps Mazdaslam, those 13B Rotary cases come in handy all the time, I was going to make a coffee table out of them but they are too ****** useful in the shed
Cheers! Nah, didn't find any. I will just use the '38 radius rods & make up some brackets. I do need a Model A wishbone so I can use that to locate the '38 radius rods. Cheers Jimmy
That Chevy roadster (your inspiration) has been on my mind since I first saw it on the HAMB. Keep us posted in the progress. By the way, how the hell did you find that body, as it is rare here even in the states!
Really, really nice work! I too dream of the same inspiration car that you are using. On pg.114 of "The Birth of Hot Rodding" there is a side/rear view photo of it, wearing #15A for the 1948 season. It says they set the A roadster record in 1948 @ 123.05 mph using a 1925 chevy 4 cyl. Cool to say the least. cheers ricki
This is so cool,.When done, go out, take black and white photos in the wide open spaces, you'll look like you belong in the day. Thoughts on power?
That would of been this post Hot Rods As They were (Post WW2)? I bought the back half off ebay, big thanks to Earl Schieb for picking it up and sending it to me. It is an Awesome Hot Rod isn't it? Thanks I like the Whippet shell more than the Deuce shell. No, they are on the right side I have a stretch of road near me that reminds me of scenes from Cali & I may takes some pics there. Power 1925 Chev 4 with 3-port head. Cheers Jimmy
