Did they ever make a "noisy" gear drive for the Chevy 6?

I kinda dig what a Pete Jackson gear drive sounds like on a small block with an equally cool exhaust setup(ie: gl***/steel packs, proper diameter, etc.)

Did any companies ever make a similar sounding gear drive kit for the Chevy Inline 6??? I mean, they're already gear driven by design.

    I'd consider buying one...

    Thanks

  2. The only metal cam gears I have ever seen for the six, were the cam gears from some marine engines. I don't recall if the engines were OMC, but I know for certain that the engines I saw were not Mercruiser. These Chevy inboard marine engines were common on the BC coast in the 70's and early 80's. You couldn't hear the gear noise in the boats because there were about a million other things that were louder.

if you get marine parts make sure they are not from a "reverse rotation motor" because the cams are ground different. do your homework before you buy.

I'm pretty sure that all replacement gears for the 235 are aluminum whereas the original gears were a fiber composite

I went on the Cloyes website and it seems like those were for '62 and NEWER Inline 6's... I should have been more specific, I'm want a setup for my 235.

Is it possible that ALL Chevy 6's share the same gear drive ***embly??? That would be killer but seems highly unlikely...

    Thanks all the same,

For the 235 you have to use the aluminum gear from a 261 or from a GMC 228-302

All humour aside - whether good, bad, distaseful or otherwise, Cloyes make them for Chevies. use the one for the Iron Duke ..... They interchange. :D

Chev 235/261, Chev 292 and Pontaic Iron Duke 4 Cylinder are all the same.

    ;)
