I was looking at ECTA website and saw NewYorks own Rolling Bones Racing Team was a headliner ,I had never been there so why not? I woke up the Deuce, while not in total bones style but still wearing a bones badge, up early Friday morning we meet friends Tom and Ray we headed south..We arrived at the track early afternoon we found a space next to Bones Boyz, what luck, these guys are cool ..They had already gone through TECH and were under the tent having a cool brew, and planning for saturdays passes. We met some real troopers and great guys.. Saturday came early ,Ken made first pass ,then Keith, then this guy that talked funny made the third. This is where EGO comes into play, come to find out that he was a hot shoe that arrived Tuesday, from the mother country of England ..Well "Dan The Man " made the fastest pass by far putting Ken and Keith in the back seat. Dan told me that those two old farts that have been driving have too many evil sprits in their brain to go fast .There was huss, huss talk of Ken and Keith hanging up the suit and helmet, and signing Dan to a contract as the new driver..Dan also said he may be able to bring the FULLERS BEER sponsor from England with him..Did I mention these guys like beer? Heck,,, this may be bigger then the Earnhart Jr signing.... Remember that you read this on the H.A.M.B. before the Speed News.. Can anyone add to this rumor????
I had a call from Dan early Sunday AM. He called to tell me of his best time of 118.??? I could hear mumbling in the background that I figured was Ken and Keith. Guess they really had a good time at Maxton. Well, Dan did anyway. I'm not surprised he had a good run, When I picked him up at the airport in Albany last Tuesday night, He'd been up and traveling for 25+ hours. He was so wired he could hardly blink. During the warm up drive by the shop on Wednesday we were teasing him about how slow he was driving the race car. Guess he was saving his best for race day.
Sorry I missed it. I was threatening to go since I owe them a few beers, but family time took priority. Hope it met their tuning & fun goals. Brett
Well, imagine how excited I was when Keith and Ken walked in with smirks on their faces this morning...haha
Whatever I reply to on this is just goin to get me deeper into trouble as if Jack hasnt done a pretty good job of that already!.........it was a great weekend, with six consistent runs and lots of friendly banter, we have pretty high hopes for Bonneville now!!!!!!!
